New bottle of Fireball and apple cider I pressed myself. Kicking back on my porch with a corn pipe. Life is good.

Just wondering. People were talking about slashing and just getting a gun and such so I figured if he was going to try and carry it as a weapon I should try and disabuse him of the notion.
Nope. I'm not diluted enough into thinking I can fend anyone off with a knife. Not when guns are as easy to obtain as parking tickets.

This'll be, as was said, for box-cutting. ^^

Just making sure.

While any weapon better than no weapon, any other weapon is still better than a knife. Carrying one around and expecting it to be useful in a self defense situation is just going to get you killed.

If you want something besides a gun for defense, get pepper spray or a baton. Neither is as effective as a gun, but both are leagues above a knife or stun gun.
Wait, batons? Like the police beat down with?

Knives are only good when you want to commit some mass slaughter. I still remember an article about german guy who wounded like one hundred people on the train station or something like that. He was just wreaking the havoc, using panic of mass to get clean cuts. And yeah, that's germany so nobody stopped him for a while.

Knife is bad when you want self-defense weapon, I agree with redthirst. When you are bringing knife in, you can't "defend yourself" - you can only kill. Other weapons give you not only much bigger potential to kill, but also can serve in defense.
If Suga's the creepy uncle, can Yarpus be the eccentric one who's always saying crazy shit but everyone loves him for it?
Thundercunts are not crazy shit. They are... Thundercunts.
I actually like to mumble "Dumb Cunts" under nose to relieve the pressure and to have something to laugh on. Don't know why
but it cracks me everytime.
I also swear when I sleep. Most of people who ever slept in a one room with me told me so - I guess I have to believe them.

Well... I guess I'm just hell of an angry nerd.

Yeah, a collapsible ASP baton - it's a pretty good defensive weapon against someone who's either unarmed or armed with
an edged/blunt weapon. Easy to conceal and you can seriously fuck somebody up with one if you need to.

+1 Redthirst's wisdom here; I've seen one used to devastating effect up close. A slice from a knife hurts, but can often be ignored when the adrenalin is running redline; a snapped wrist bone, however, tends to take the wind out of most non-impaired people's sails.

Just got back from fnm. 4-1 for second place.
Only loss was to a weird naya build. It was basically: "Look at G/W, take most broken things. Look at G/R, take most broken things. Add Boros Reckoner and Chained to the Rocks.
Damn good deck, though o.o

Instead of packs, I took store credit and then traded in the cards I pulled from the 2 gamedays I second'd, and then used a 10% coupon, and bought myself an anime pvc figure as my trophy for said gamedays and fnm.

I'll proly do a full writeup in the devotion thread come morning. But yeah.

Oh, and round 5 was against a U/W control. He started in after game one on 'god red decks are so stupid'. I shut him down. Hard. Nothing smarter about turn 4 Verdict vs a turn 4 Fanatic. He was also confused as to why I kept cards in my hand vs him. Left enough on field to beat fairly well and a chandra, and then VCA and keeping hold of cards for post-wipe. Teehee.

Good job, Raida. As for being a geek, I wore my Darth Vader hoodie and carried my Chewbacca backpack to FNM tonight. :D

And the coolest thing happened: I played an exact mirror match of Walter White (PyroWhite) against someone who had seen it here at diestoremoval! He followed the link in z's signature and read up on the deck. He asked me if I had seen it here, and he was surprised when I told him my screen name. We may have a new recruit in the next couple of days.

aww yiss.

[edit] Also another Golem token, Heliod's Cleric token, foil Shredding Winds, foil Nemesis of Mortals (shiny!), and fuckin' foil Mountain (245, it looks sweet)

4-1 for second w/Walter White (1st through 4th were all 4-1). Only loss was 2-1 to Devo black. Beat Boros Homebrew, Esper (he got first), Devo Red, B/W Midrange. $36 in store credit, minus the ten for entry. Our LGS owner is cool like that and lets you play before paying, so that if you win it was free.

3-1 with Walter White, losing the last game 2-1 against SELESNYA AURAS. On the third game he mulled to 5 and went Forest -> 1/1 Gladeclover Scout, Plains -> Ethereal Armor, Plains -> Unflinching Courage. WHATEVS.

Then I've played GR Tron in the first semiserious Modern event I've ever entered end I ended up being abused by pretty much everyone, winning only a single game :(

Haven't slept since FNM and it's 7am my time. Been listening to new drake, chainsmoking, and eating like a stoner all night BY MYSELF. Feeling slightly crazy right now. Doubt I'm gonna be high functioning enough for the win-a-box I'm supposed to play in 5 hours. Oh well, I still have this taco in front of me...
You gotta understand, I love the beatdown. I really do. I always have.

Reporting in.
Went 5-0 at my FNM local shop (kerrville, texas). It was sealed night. My second pack had a foil Agent of Fates and an Elespth, Sun's Champion.
That at least paid for the event. My other packs had Hero's Downfall, Abhorrent Overlord, and Spear of Heliod (others were Boon Satyr and Steam Augary). The deck built itself. I also had 5 good removal spells. Scholar of Athreos (x3) won a few games on her own with all the walls I had, and Sentry of the Underworld was the finisher most of the time (only good in limited, but damn they were good). I thought for sure game loss was inevitable a few times, but being patient with the deck and playing the player won over brute force.
Winnings were OK with Erebos, Temple of Deceit, and another Hero's Downfall (rest were crap). Apperantly Hero's downfall (have 4 already)
is in severe short supply where I play and immediately traded 2 for Chandra, Pyromaster (3 now!).

Side note from previous discussion on batons/clubs.

In texas, it is a bad grey area on whether you can carry one with a concealed handgun liscense. I almost purchased one, but the laws here are really restrictive on them (car, house, and property carry only). Wanted one for when I could not carry the gun, but some states have special weapon permits and they are the same as the gun liscense in respects to restrictions. No point. You could just carry a big MAG light in the drink holder of the backpack and no one would notice.
As for knives, assume the person you are handling is always better than you. Attacking first generally has the disadvatage. Thus don't direct attack with a blade. Always use it in supprise or stealth takedown.

Played draft last night and built a pretty baller RB Aggro deck that went 3-0. So far I've drafted Theros twice and both times have opened a Stormbreath Dragon and Whip of Erebus so I've got to say I'm pretty happy with Theros Limited.

What's up LP? RL bullshit?

I went 4-1 at FNM, good for 2nd place. I lost to the same damn G/W deck I lost to at Game Day. Apparently the playgroup just passes the deck around depending on who wants to play it. Its so fucking stupid - 3 maindeck Unflinching Courages. Still, the deck beat all the good players and took first, again. I hear that topdecking an Ajani to launch a Voice with 2 Boon Satyrs on to deal 20 in one fell swoop is GG. Luckiest Game 3 topdeck ever.

I hate Selesbos. Stormbreath and Reckoner shit all over that deck though. You are still only using mono Red dragon right? If so you should join us on the Boros side. I heard Voices liked to be Chained to rocks.

If so you should join us
on the Boros side. I heard Voices liked to be Chained to rocks.
How dare your pollute the purity of monored. That's how you get those filty lazy mud decks! RED POWER!!!

thanks to nbw for the sig.
You do need to try to gay it up a little more.

You're like the least gay member of this clan.

And that's counting the fact that you voluntarily have sex with men.

Yeah, I'm still on Mono Red Dragons. I lost Game 2 because I drew land for 8 straight turns. Sometimes that shit just happens - I just suck it up. Game 3 was just...what the fucking fuck.

Honestly, I'm not missing the Charms or Chains. All of my games were pretty exciting. I beat THREE U/W control decks. And I never landed a Dragon. I'll write something up later when I finally get done working (I'm on my 7th day).

In a pinch, Khaos' beard can help turn this around.
I rarely skip a Khaospawn wall of text because I know there is always piss at the end of the rainbow.
