I'm just not a fan of spector. I'm all for playing bad cards for synergy, but I don't THINK it does enough.

I know he's not good, but I really want to make a spector "cast your spells" deck work. I have just accepted that standard is not the place to do so. Sunday the guy next to me got psychic intrusion as his pass out because I picked a triton tactics over it (no one respects tri-tac as the brutalization it is). I find it hilarious that even at a table 10, half of them newbs, no one wants to even rare draft it. The idea is cute, but every implementation sucks pond water through a red straw.

But it sometimes draws a card!

In the last Theros draft I was in I jumped in on a whim to even up the numbers in a pod. In my pod there are usual draft only players as well as the usuals I see week in and out. The
usual draft only players went blue (lol real color) the usuals went Red, white and/green. I got left with all the black.

I learned that people under value solid cards in favor of familiar colors or the rare they cracked open. It didn't help that they pretty much competed for the same pull while I got all the black goodies.

Black Merchant with Return of the Dead is the nuts. Closed out a game that way when a player showed a tell that he had a fog. Only lost one match and that was to mana screw.

I'd cut those Dimir Guildgate. Redundancy is all nice and stuff, but I just don't see the need to include a playset that is obsoleted by another.

Well, I do like to cast my spells is all. I need at least 20 blue sources for weird, so I'm pretty locked in two running at least a few guildgates.
