I am soooo fucking excited that R/x has MULTIPLE forms this early in the season.

Just had say that. Like, I thought we lived in exciting times a year ago...Man, I was wrong!

I actually feel like I have a much stronger grasp of this early season than I did last year. It's a...confident feeling.

This deck tech is so good.

It should be mandatory viewing for future clan members.

You do need to try to gay it up a little more.

You're like the least gay member of this clan.

And that's counting the fact that you voluntarily have sex with men.

For the record, I believe there's a special place in hell for UW players.
I hope you mean constructed UW players, I keep ending up in UW in draft because that's what keeps being open (because no respects it, and I keep winning with it). That and I was a dedicated MUC player until they failed to reprint counterspell in 8th, and my rage led me to the mountains.

I feel like being able to play an oldschool draw-go MUC should be something you can do, even if it's not your style.
You learn a lot playing that way

-play mistakes are punished brutally and swiftly, and in a way you can obviously see.
-threat evaluation is mandatory, and enforced by above.
-card advantage theory is drilled home as clearly as possible.
-your understanding
of the stack and stack tricks will become instinctual (though I still have to remind myself that priority no longer passes with "damage on the stack").
-finally as sun tzu said "know thy enemy as thou knows thyself.

What's with all of the states posts today? Isn't states Oct. 12/13th (i.e., this upcoming weekend)? In any case, anyone still on AIR/BAI for states? It seems like everyone's on PyroRed and Fanatical Red. I took BAI to two Magic tournaments so far and it performed very well; likely taking some devotion variant to the LGS tonight to see how it feels. I really like the idea of devotion red in the mirror and against midrange (mostly because of Boros Reckoner), but sideboarding doesn't seem intuitive to me. Dropping reckoner against control really suggests dropping Fanatic of Mogis as well, but then that's eight sideboard cards against control which is way too many. What's the orthodox sideboarding plan for the control match-up?
Aodh (and anyone
else who cares), look here if you want to know why there are states on different weekends. Quicky answer: There are two separate States programs as explained in the post linked above.

Guy at my local store claimed that "If you're not putting Boon Satyr on Frostburn Weird, you don't have a clear grasp of the format." Pretty sure he's talking out his ass, but I can't really read the guy. Is there anything behind his claim?

It's an awesome feeling.

The funny thing is that he rarely lets us read the books to him, yet he's fascinated with them. He sits and babbles to himself with the occasional word coming through.

I just picked up a fun rules snippet from an article...the damage generated by Burning Earth can be redirected to planeswalkers. So not only can you tie down UXx decks manawise, you can kill their Jace with their own spells. Too funny...

Sounds like some sort of weird rug agro control deck to me which actually sounds sweet. Manabase is probably unrealistic though and It's 230 in the morning so I'm in no mood to brew even reasonably bad decks at the moment.
