pyromaster red with shocks, strikes and jets....

yeah I think thats the way to go if the meta is going more midrange and less about control MUs

Beat Big Boros 2-1. Really close matches...whew.

Are the shocks strikes and jets that good against Midrange?

The way I see it, Devotion Red is a lot better against a Midrange/Aggro meta. Without board wipes, we can build a huge board and kill with FAnatic. Also has good cards against aggro.

The problem was the deck was a little slower and reliant on board state but without blue, it feels even better.

I guess less wipes means you can make more pyro tokens though

Devotion red theoretically should be a lot better vs. midrange for the reasons Dpaine stated while I'd rather sleeve up pyro red vs. control.

Both decks seem great in agro mirrors.

Lost 0-2to to BUG midrange after a game one mull to five and game two opponent playing three Reaper of the Wilds. Is this real life?

Izzet blitz is doing work against midrange decks

Turn/burn is the shit. Unflinching courage? LOLU. A card that burns them AND answers that enchantment. Its like destructive reverly for r/g except 1000x more flexible

Also Ash Zealot/Phoenix laughs at experiment ones voices and all the other shit that GW deck was playing

2-1 vs Esper midrange. Kept a five land hand with mutavault, cackler, and ash zealot game three on the play and got there.

I'll post the green list after states is over. There are still small but significant differences that folks just haven't picked up on; similar to the way Mogis and Pyrored are different decks despite the similarity of the 75.

zeman, the banner is screaming! Who did the edit? Sorry I missed that you were wanting to change it...I still have all the original psd's in full size that would have produced a lot less artifacting than trying to edit that tiny banner jpg. The final that I sent you wasn't really designed for tweaking since the forum limits size so severely.

PyroRed can run smaller creatures like Cackler, Phoenix, and especially Zealot into much bigger stuff and kill them while creating tokens. Eventually, you get Chandra or a Hammer online and take over. Her +1 really adds up since it does a lot by pinging them, faltering their best blocker, and bringing Phoenixes back to your hand. Phoenix feels so much more powerful than a 2/2, especially
since most decks just can't keep it dead.

Throwing Reckoner into the sideboard will add even more value to the deck.

I had doubts about the deck before I ran it, but it just does so many things right.

My store is having it's yearly inventory. Since I'm a team lead, I get to come in at 4pm and work til 1230 am. But it gets even better. I'm also back at 5am and working til 130pm.

Time for sleep when I'm in the grave, I guess.

I have no idea why they want to deny me my sleep when I have so many important things I have to count.

The real question is: how many 5-Hour Energys and Monster drinks is Khaos going to consume tonight?

2-0 against mono red. He mulled to five game one and I had everything. Game two I had even more of everything as I played my typical mono red control style to victory.

GR stepped up and edited it so I can use it on stream. Now if only I could get the stream working...

@ Windstrider. Best I've had yesterday was a Phoenix eat threat terrors while Chandra rebought it every turn. My opponent wasnt happy (and lost pretty badly). +1 put a 2/2 haste flier into play you say?

That's a good feeling. I had a guy Verdict the field twice just to have the Phoenix keep coming back because of Chandra. And then I dropped another one. :D The Phoenix was just crazy good for me the entire night.

Welp, I scrubbed out by losing the next two matches to UW control and Junk midrange. They just had all the cards all the time. Turn four Jace both games for UW and chained three Revelations in four turns game two. Despite that I was able ti hang in there but he eventually cleared my board and got there with six cards left in his deck. The Junk guy just outdrew me both games curving into Caryatid into Sin Collector into removal and Scooze, then game two casually playing Smiter into Unflinching Courage. Sometimes they just have it and you don't.

Welp, that's just how it goes sometimes. I didn't punt any matches and I actually felt like I played pretty strong today. The meta was pretty diverse today with a lot of red decks, a buttload of midrange of all colors, and probably 5-6 control decks. 44 players total. I started out 3-1 and felt good going against UW next match (I got the pair up) but he just had everything and there was nothing I could do to win either game. Then the last match was just salt in the wound. I had literally NO chance.

Devotion Red runs Cackler, Pheonix, and Zealot as well... and also Hammer and Chandra

Did my first matches on modo. Deck feels good. Same as interface. Just stilly question - is there a possibility of undoing your last action? Had one durp and thought there's a way.
Beating up people with Slivers and Lava Axes feels bad though. I mean, I mostly meet those. I've met DevoRed as well and got his ass seriously beaten but it was 1-game match.

If you haven't gone too far you can Ctrl+Z to undo.

I'll put up a report in the deck when I get the chance. That said, if I could do it again and wanted to stick to the PyroRed theme:

[deck]
4 rakdos cackler
4 foundry street denizen
4 burning-tree emissary
4 young pyromancer
3 firefist striker
4 chandra's phoenix

4 shock
4 magma jet
4 lightning strike
2 mizzium mortars
2 chandra, pyromaster

2 mutavault
19 mountain
[/deck]

Yeah yeah, BTE and all that, but I think it would be nice to have just a little more potential for explosive openings and that was lacking in my deck.

PyroRed with my minor addition of 2 Goblin Diplomats as they are cute. Still, I have 2 Chandras (TY Redthirst) and the whole package except of SB Reckoners and Mizzium Mortars.
But those were open games - so expect people to either have shitty decks or play like a shit or both.
Not sure if I can afford playing in 8-man queue, it's a lot of money for me tbh. Still, if I'd win 3-4 matches, it's also a lot of money for me.

So I'm watching SCG Legacy Open and see the Reanimator player accidentally discard his Reanimate to Careful Study instead of Griselbrand. If I feel as bad as I do about that, I can't imagine how he's feeling...

Seriously I almost threw up watching that. I thought "Wait, maybe he drew another and is just pitching the extra. Right. Right?"

Ugh...but he pulled it through game three vs two Goyfs. Yay.

And now another Reanimator player just Reanimated his opponent's Geist of Saint Traft and is trying to race UWR Delver.

But OH he just lost by one turn. Brutal.
