Weeeeeelppp my friday starts with our car getting repo . Off to a wonderful start..... at least someone sent me this

http://youtu.be/CddMD3QqTFs

Maybe the spoilers will have something good.
Well that sucks. I've never had anything repoed, but I imagine it'll happen at some point - I haven't made a house payment in almost 4 years.

When running 2 colors I'd always prefer a scryland to a gate if it comes to that no reason to not run the better land. @thirsts post from a couple pages back about wog and damnation, I mentioned something similiar to a friend and he said it's not likely since regenerate is already an underused mechanic, he doesn't think wizards will reprint sweepers with the can't regenerate effect.

I've heard that too. I wouldn't be surprised to see a black Day of Judgment, though.

I guess they didn't said that Regeneration is not supported mechanic anymore - more like they want to make it rare and special, so printing "It can't regenerate" clausule on every card makes it pointless.

It's funny reading comments complaining how actively bad Lightning Strike is. Meanwhile, we're fairly happy we got a 2cmc, instant speed, 3 power burn spell.

I particularly enjoyed the argument on Sally that printing Lightning Strike instead of reprinting Searing Spear was just a move to make more money off veteran players.

Those scry lands are baller as shit. I'm happy with a slower format, it means cards like Urban Evolution will be cool again, and Obzedat, Ghost Council will be a chase mythic.

Just dropped pre-orders on the Boros and Orzhov lands...having to supply cards for the boy as well means even opening stuff we will need them. Depending on how things go with the rest of the set, it looks like possibly Boros Aggro and Orzhov Control. BTW, in response to Alex's comment, Obzedat is only at aroung $7.50 on Amazon right now; if black gets a sweeper, I would guess it will be a safe bet that he will go up. Possibly worth some speculating, though Dark Betrayal can shoot him down.

About 5 bills.

I'm thinking I'll let the hype die down a bit, let the "these cards suck" speculation chase a few people away, and then buy them before people get a chance to play with them and realize that they're not bad and (bad or not) if you're playing 2+ colors then you're still going to want 4 either way.

You're sure about 4-of? In terms of low-curve aggro, using 2 of those seems much better.

I'm thinking low-curve Aggro is probably going to want to be mono colored without access to 8 duals that ETB untapped.

You could probably still play something like the original Dos Rakis, though: only spashing a second color for something that costs 4+.

Like you could probably run RDW with Exava on 4 Shocks and 4 Swamps.

Now is the time where we all have to make difficult budget decisions: preorder singles, buy a box, or pick up the cheap shit that's about to rotate.

Also, is the inn stuff at its lowest point right now, or will it continue to drop for a few months?
What about stuff like cavern that only sees a bit of standard play? Should I pick them up at $11, or will they go lower?

Cavern will be played in some capacity in every tribal deck in Eternal formats from now until the end of time.

If they don't reprint it it'll be like $50+ in 5 years.

@Red
I'm currently heavily considering Gruul decklist that plays just on 22 lands and splashes only for Ghor-Clan Rampager and Destructive Revelry (SB). And whatever they are going to throw at RG yet. Currently decklist works amazingly well. It has some hiccups when the only cards you draw are Firefist Strikers... but besides of that, it's a beast.

[deck]Creatures:
4 Rakdos Cackler
4 Legion Loyalist
4 Burning-Tree Emissary
4 Gore-House Chainwalker
4 Firefist Striker
4 Pyrewild Shaman
4 Ghor-Clan Rampager

Other Spells:
4 Magma Jet
4 Lightning Strike
2 Hammer of Purphoros

Lands:
2 Temple of Abandon
4 Stomping Ground
16 Mountain

Sideboard:
4 Mizzium Mortars // Ground Assault
4 Act of Treason
4 Skullcrack
2 Destructive Revelry
1 Temple of Abandon[/deck]

I have to admit that I've tried to play the deck without Green splash. It sucks. Ghor-Clan Rampager is really cool here as when you are getting
stuck on two lands, you can just use his Bloodrush. And even without that flexxibility, there are no cards available for Mono Red now which would fit the deck and have satisfying power level. I can live with a creature without Haste on this slot (mostly thx to Bloodrush) - but without both evasion and haste, everything just seems sucky.

Cavern will never be cheaper than a few months after it rotates out of Standard. You might be able to trade for them a dollar or two per card as players unload their playsets.

If it's $10 now, I'd expect it to drift down to maybe $7-8 after THS and stay there for a while.

Tribal is only an eternal archetype in Goblins and Merfolk, and they don't run many caverns. Still, might not be a bad spec if you're thinking long term.

If all we had for duals were shocks and guildgates, wouldn't most 2-color decks run 4 of each?

Since these scrygates are "strictly better" (I know people hate that phrase, but it's accurate here) than guildgates, wouldn't that be an obvious swap?

Not all decks are required to have 2 colours. And some of them would trade a bit of powerlevel of cards they play for consistency (their lands entering untapped).
When creating a deck now, you need to take tapped lands into account.

Good luck, TubeHunter!
My school's football team has their first game tomorrow as well. I might go, although my school's football team typically doesn't do so well. Tonight, there's a tailgate with all-you-can-eat burgers/hot dogs (although the guy told me that, with the expected turnout, everyone probably won't even be able to get 2...and he didn't even buy cheese) for $2. All of the redneck kids are going to be there, along with a few of my friends who are on the team...but not me, because I'd much rather burn my way to victory at FNM with Valdarith's pyro-phoenix RDW.

The new lands are balanced, although I don't like them for two reasons: (1) in aggro decks (the decks I play), the loss of tempo is unwelcome, and (2) 3-color decks will likely become obsolete, so Burning Earth will lose its effectiveness.

(1) I will probably be playing 1-color aggro for this standard, unless someone finds a way to eloquently squeeze the Scry lands into a manabase.
(2) This isn't as much a problem as an annoyance; I was super-hyped about BE when it came out, but missed two weeks of standard when it was effective. Traded for a few at $5, then Jund rediscovered Golgari Charm, and UWr -> UW. Without an agreeable manabase, 3-color'll be almost-universally gone, so I won't be able to use them evarrr. :'(

Well of course nobody's forcing you to play a two-color deck. But for those who DO play them, I don't think they'll mind the scrylands very much.
