I bet a dollar on Image
Hey! I actually knew this one! I used to catch Bebop on Cartoon Network ages ago before the kids stayed up late enough to take over the television (that's what I get for taking away their TV's in their rooms, I suppose). Y'all look awesome, James!

RE Alex's post - I've always had a thing for Ivy, and that pic certainly doesn't do anything to dissuade damning thoughts...yikes!

That Tamiyo is pretty next-level...seriously impressive. Yet both pics of her that have been posted give the impression of haughty standoffishness rather than the ethereal serenity expressed in the
original artwork.

Well, definitely had my wallet stolen while waiting in line at Chick'fil'a this morning. They caught the guy on the security cameras but that doesn't really mean shit. At least they still let me have the food I ordered as a way to show pity to my relenting soul.

So now my grand scheme to buy a bunch of tix and play MODO is fucking out the window.

Fucking fuck.
I guess they found out you were Super Gay and
the fine people of that Conservative Christian establishment decided to teach you a lesson.

Nah, that actually is pretty lame. Sorry to hear it.
See, if I was going to make a smart-ass comment it'd probably be something about asking Alex that if he was one of those douche looking people who wear a leather trenchcoat in the SE in August then why the hell wasn't his wallet on a chain? Did they get his fedora too? Were his boots too heavy to chase the guy down? Etc.

But instead I'll just go with sorry man - that sucks.
It's been in the low 50s here in the mornings, so appropriate wear is appropriate. I could have chased him down, but with a mixture of being in a crowded morning line and the fact that he caught me by surprise, by the time that idea even crossed my mind he was already pretty much gone.

It also hadn't occurred to me that my wallet was in there, that being said I probably would have knocked all of the surrounding people out of my way to go after
him. :gonk:

Alex is a heterosexual icon.
This sounds forced and/or bribed. I'll accept it as confirmation pending further investigation.

I wish I had thought to take a group picture when we were together. Next time they're in my neck of the woods we are doing exactly that. (As well as going out to a bar, because the game store here is pretty lame.)

Someone want to loan me this stuff and maybe a few loaner tix on MODO? I can pay you back once I get my new debit card in the mail. (Or immediately if the deck plays as smoothly as I think it will after some goldfishing.) Gonna try and get the pauper train rolling.

It wouldn't shock me if somebody told me that this was a rite of passage to become a mod at MTGS. The vast majority of them certainly act in such a way that would lead one to believe that's the case.

Buddy of mine started playing EDH this weekend. Despite the fact that he plays lots of standard and is very good at constructed AND had the card in his deck, he didn't know what Aurelia did

It was fun watching the games though because he was playing Zedru and his deck is just a pile of combos. Durdle durdle, give somebody something, play possibility storm to make the game fun, oh hey, kiki jiki pestermite, omniscience anything, even the angel of glory's rise combo. The best thing was a game he was getting owned by Khalia and the dragon that steals artifacts. He plays gilded lotus, passes, gets it stolen, draws an extra card with zedru finding karmic guide, which buys him another turn(it's pro black let him block a rune-scarred demon), then with the extra card he got from Zedruu again, he hits zealous conscripts,
steals his gilded lotus back, plays kiki, combo's out.

Also, Young Pyromancer and Brimstone volley in RDW is happening tomorrow. If I finish first, I'll probably buy 2 Chandra's to replace the flames of the firebrands that are placeholding(had my Chandra's stolen along with stomping grounds and some young pyro's recently).
You gotta understand, I love the beatdown. I really do. I always have.

Beatdown is hard, though.

tell me I'm reading the: http://www.wizards.com/magic/magazine/a ... eature/261 article right....

It shows the new theros symbol on the new cards (Polkouranos or w/e) but it ALSO shows the SAME symbol on some reprints, most notably Fires of Yavimaya....

That isn't the Theros symbol, it's the Duel Deck symbol. You can see the Theros symbol on the pre-release cards for example: http://www.wizards.com/magic/magazine/a ... ature/257c

So, no Fires of Yavimaya reprint (wouldn't fit flavourwise with the name either...).

Yeah look in the Rumor Mill over on Sally, Fate...the thread with the spoiled cards from the upcoming Duel Deck talks about reprints vs. new cards and what will not be coming to Standard from the DD set.

LP, I did some goldfish games with your YP/BV list and I gotta say, I like it a lot.

Every card drawn with the deck is strong on its own and there are a lot of options. The instant speed burn lets you play a control game while YP starts shitting out tokens, which actually builds into an explosive finish whenever you drop the Hellrider.

Granted, it probably gets blown out by Golgari Charm / Electrickery, but then so does the regular RDW with its Lightning Maulers and Firefist Strikers.

Personally, I'd make some tweaks to fit my style. I'm not too keen on the idea of 5 4-drops with 21 land or even maindecking Mortars. Not saying either of these are a bad thing. I'm actually thinking of upping the BV count to a full set.

Also, sucks to hear about your shit getting stolen. Find that motherfucker and stomp him in the nuts. Then, when you're done, whisper Ricky Spanish into his ear.

Though that last part only works
on American Dad fans.

Bought my first real deck on MODO yesterday. I'm heading to law school in a couple weeks and know I won't have much time for paper magic, so figured I'd HOPEFULLY have a little time here and there to get some digital games in. Especially if I sit in the back of class, since I'm fairly certain everybody will have laptops in class these days.

I bought enough tix to buy the AIR lists. I know it's not the best situated right now, but I know how to play it, it was one of the cheapest options to build from scratch on MTGO, and there are only a couple cards that will rotate out of it - Stromkirk, Hellrider, and Searing Spear.

Any advice on how to proceed from here? Buy enough tix to get in some dailies?

Anyone else excited about Ordeal of Purphoros?

T1: mountain, Cackler, go.
T2: Mountain, BTE, Ordeal, take 8.
T3: mountain, Phoenix, attack for 9. ( you're at 3, if you had a shock land, you're at 1)
T4: anything, extend hand.

Not sure that's how it works. Cackler would have to attack 3 times to build enough counters to sac it, and once it's sacrificed, you can't use it again. How are you dealing 8, instead of 3, on T2?

I've thought about the same play: Cackler, into BTE + Ordeal. But in your example, how do you do 8 damage on turn 2? You do only 3.

Cackler starts with one +1/+1 counter, so you only have to attack twice.

I read it wrong. I though it said put three +1/+1 counters on it. That isn't as busted as I was thinking it was.

So in the above senario, it would actually be:

T1: RC
T2: BTE, OoP, attack three (17)
T3: CP, attack 8, sac OoP (6)
T4: Chandra, +1, attack (-3)
