Wouldn't work for me since I don't MTGO.
Yet.
I'm also pretty inept at figuring out Cockatrice.
Do you have Cockatrice? Because it is actually not that hard to learn, just a lot of CTL shortcuts and right Clicking. I

I downloaded it when the Clan formed but I couldn't figure out how to build a Commander deck on it, so I gave up.
Yep, I'm inept.

Ah, you probably had trouble with the oracle tool and getting the sets on there Im thinking. that was the hardest part for me.
But... saying we could get you cockatrice up to date and running or you get MTGO, would you have interest?

I feel like I'm the only person here not playing AiR in Modern right now.
You're not. We can be Soul Sisters Brothers

I think Modern is my favorite format right now, it's just loads of fun.
General
agreements. Modern is definitely my format.
no one here plays modern anyways.
lulz.

Don't feel bad. I downloaded it twoish months ago, couldn't understand the interface at all, decided the how-to page was tl;dr, and promptly said fuck it.

If someone would be willing to teach me how the fuck to use MTGO I may be interested in something like that. I have a hard time justifying buying cards online I already have in paper, though.

Maybe when I get my school money, I'll just buy my Goblin deck outright on MTGO and start grinding or something, a la Alex's article.
I can't get off the Goblin kick. The deck just feels powerful.

i mean at my lgs, no one has a modern deck. Not a single person. Closest that they came was when 3 guys went to gp kc and build UWR Geist, and 2 4cGifts out of the groups combined 11 legacy decks (as no one was going to be there for legacy that week.) and then immediately disassembled them. Does that sound strange to you guys?

But yeah, if and when I get rolling on MTGO, I'm down. Count me in.

That kinda sounds mean the way I put it.
Not to say you're the cause.

My LGS is pretty diverse. Everyone has standard, commander, modern and pauper decks. A lot of the guys have legacy, but we don't really every play it competitively.

I don't know the size of your lgs, but our usual tournament is about 25-30 people. so only standard here. This seems not normal..... we have about 9-12 people that play legacy each week.

We have around 45 people for standard every week, and roughly half that for modern.

Closer to 60/30 some days. But that's the beauty of being the only lgs for a big city.

lol. My LGS has an average of 16-20 for FNM.

I usually work on Sundays, but not this week...Rush is here in concert tomorrow night and the boy and I will be jammin' out old school.

Posted: Sun Aug 04, 2013 3:59 am
by zemanjaski
Damn. Rush is awesome.
To clarify, I normally work 8am-6pm Mon-Fri; so this is 6 days this week. Yes, I am complaining.
Deal with it.

Man, I'm totally gonna crank some Rush now and pick up the axe. Time to jam on some Limelight.

You have my sympathy on the extended work week, James; I did that last week to pay for the last-minute vacation with my daughter (5 nights in a row sucks...I'm getting too old to flip back the next day). Of course, you also have my envy for all the couples gymnastics

( I really have to start making inroads to expanding my social life...).
We're definitely looking forward to the concert; we've seen their last couple of tours together as well and my son loves them. I blew my daughter's mind the other day when I told her I started listening to Rush in 6th grade (as part of a discussion she started by informing me how talented One Direction is and how sure she is that they will leave a mark on music history). When I told her that Geddy Lee turned 60 last week while on the current tour (for their 20th studio album) she could hardly fathom
it...oh to see the world again through the eyes of a 13-year-old...

Im not a rush guy. Im a big stickler for vocals, and the lead singer rubs me the wrong way

Considering all the sci-fi and video game fans in the clan, I'm going to share a link to
my latest addiction. This site is an aggregator for a bunch of sites that do "1 Day" T-shirt sales, and some of the designs that show up absolutely kick ass. Many homages to Firefly, Nintendo, Doctor Who and other pop culture splashes.
At TH - To each their own; I've always loved Geddy's range, and Peart's lyrics are in a class by themselves. My daughter has absolutely no interest in them, or much of any "classic rock" as she and her friends are all about "pop". When I have fun is when rock/alternative/electronic songs cross over into the pop charts and I listen to her stammer on trying to justify why she's listening to "my" music.

I've always envied Alex Lifeson's simple, yet technical, heavy style.

just cause i don't play a lot of modern decks, doesn't mean i don't try with the format.
Modern has the most annoying fringe decks that will steal games from you. The most shitty feelings you have when you lost to these.

Ten-dollar combo decks that only work once are part of the format's charm.

No respect for people that play 8-rack. None.

It's always awful until you do it yourself. Then it's hilarious.
I took first at SNM with a
Treasure Hunt deck once similar to the one that Alex posted, beating out a $1000 pod deck in the last round. Good times.
