Armadillo Cloak on a Hexproof dude is the epitome of "fuck you".
Reminds me of Innistrad limited with Stalker and [card]Butcher's Cleaver[/card].
Seriously...GoST + Stalker + Unflinching Courage + Rancor + Spectral Flight. Duh-duh-duh-dayum. Why wouldn't you play Bant Hexproof?
I'm so very glad that Dos Rakis has access to sacrifice effects.[/quote:
3ec2i3r6]

Butcher's Cleaver hell...My very first round of Magic was ISD PR...the guy I'm playing resolves Stalker + Spectral Flight both games. He was a nice enough guy and I asked "What do I do about them"? He said, very respectfully "You die unless you can kill me before he kills you". This was my introduction to the concept of "clocks".

But your point is well-made...Cleaver would be very at home in such a deck! :evillol:

Yeah, MBC certainly seems like the best answer, assuming we can tune it to deal with the rest of the meta. I'm still going to build the Bant deck to gauntlet with...God knows we're going to have to face it.

MtG's answer to The Joker...

Barbed Jester / Spiked Jester :symb: :symr:

For the Rakdos, "suicidal charge" and "showmanship" are the same thing.

And the Bant answer?

Yeah, but we expected BlOb would make an appearance. Makes that Dega

Yeah...the frustrating thing about Dega Rakis is that you can play Resto, but she's not much more than a flash blocker/beater because you have no relevant targets for her. She with FA make for a heck of an air force...

I like the new goblin. I might try it out in the soft 2-drop slot, though it does make playing Cavern even more awkward...

Now that I think about it, Unflinching Courage in a deck with Swagtusk is just damn scary...Spear and Mortars can't touch it. Even if it only swings once for 7 lifelink+trample, that's a heck of a lifeswing. I don't think I'm going to be able to ignore those Temple Gardens in my binder any longer...too many possibilities. Even G/W midrange...Silverblade + Silverheart + Tusk + Courage = OUCH!

Not a huge one, though. I can probably still get by on 10 :symb: sources and a few Caverns.

Also, if anyone wants to do some trading, we now have a forum for that!

Not relevant to any of the decks you all are discussing, but how about that morphling variant?

I feel genuinely confused by several of the cards in this set.

The new Morphling... does not impress me.

Yeah, it's pretty big and can kill in just a few turns by itself + the flash ability is kind of like having a combination of super-indestructable-hexproof (immune even to sac effects) and vigilance, but for that much mana (basically 7 if you want to make sure it's resilient to removal) I expect a creature to immediately win me the game or get me real fucking close.

With the exception of Esper, I can't think of
a deck that can truly and honestly race a Predator Ooze with Trample/Lifelink. GW Fights could actually do a lot of work in a meta where the both ends of the spectrum are well-rounded. (BTE hyperspeed aggression as well as Sphinx's Revelation decks)

Vorapede might be a little suspect, I don't know. But the card just based on its text is bonkers. Any deck that can truly make use of it really should, it is legitimately the best beater in the format.

Also I don't think Thragtusk should be raising in price with this spoiler. A deck that wants to play Thragtusk really has no use for an aura.

I could easily see Cloak being in a GW/x Midrange deck's SB.

It + any creature the opposing deck can't immediately burn away = gg.

EoT Resto Angel, my turn Cloak - got two Searing Spears?

That was my point with Tusk as well; Drop tusk, gain 5; if it doesn't get burned by the opponent, Courage on it and swing for 7 trample lifelink and a 5 butt; if tusk did get burned, Courage and swing with a 5/5 tample lifelink token. That doesn't seem to have a downside; sure, instant speed removal can foil it just as it can any aura on a non-hexproof creature, but it sure seems like a solid midrange play.

+2/+2 Trample, Lifelink is much better than +1/+1 Flying, lifelink. Cloak is in colors that can better take advantage of it and abuse the heck out of it.

Update from Boston. Although I'm sure you can all get this on the news.

Yesterday they ID'd the two suspects and the FBI distributed photos of them. Then overnight SHIT WENT DOWN. These two kids are brothers who have been in the states for a while. They went to local school systems. Their background is balkans - either in the Chechen region or Kyrgistan (sp?) Their parents live in Russia currently.

Last night they shot and killed an MIT campus policeman (another kid actually - only 26 yrs old). Then they hijacked an SUV at a gas station and drove it to a town called Watertown, where they got in a gunfight with police and swat. Apparently they were throwing "bombs" out the window - some reports say hand grenades. Several officers injured, at least 1 in critical condition. Older of the 2 brothers killed by police, younger is still on the run.

All of Boston is shut down now - no public transit, no cab
service, and a "shelter in place" order for the whole city and surrounding towns. That basically means "wherever you are, stay the fuck there and don't go outside."

Yeah they shut down the MBTA system (public transit - buses and commuter railways and subways and trolleys) early in the morning, and the circle of things getting shut down and essentially roped off has gotten wider and wider as more time has gone by without them getting the 2nd little fuck.

eeeeeeeeeh. Wrong.

Run Arbor Elf or Avacyn Pilgrim (not both), Gyre Sage, Loxodon Smiter, Reckoner, Silverheart, Thundermaw, Rancor. Then fill in gaps. For utility lands consider Gavony Township for interaction with Gyre Sage.

Have we left the Increasing Savagery idea in that list?

EDIT: Silverheart and Thundermaw are not 4x. My test version of the Gyre Sage list also includes Nearheath Pilgrims and Resto Angels - it's fun to re-pair soulbond with pilgrim and/or Silverheart. Some number of Domri Rade and Garruk Primal Hunter make sense as well.

Last I remembered Increasing Savagery was taken out for more removal.

You can replace rancor with running KWR as well.

Bonfire is easier to use than Mortars overload in naya, without farseek anyway (you don't want to be playing farseek).

I ran the Ross Miriam list last night sans Hellkites, but the ideas are mostly the same. You definitely don't want to be playing a 4 drop that doesn't evolve Gyre, and Thrag can probably be in the SB if you're really worried about aggro (With smiters though why should you.)

I agree that one mana dork (pilgrim for mana fixing, arbor elf if you run mortars/hellkites to be able to double tap for red with Stomping Grounds) is enough.

I'm only running Pilgrim. If Gyre Sage really needs to be cut, I'd be running Thalia just to mess up with other midrange matchups. Mortars were moved to the maindeck, cut Huntmaster for Garruk Relentless main.

EDIT: I meant control matchups.

These kids weren't born in the states, but they essentially grew up here. The one who's still on the run is reported to be only 19 years old, and an uncle of his talking to reporters said that he moved to USA in 2001. That means he moved here when he was about 7 or so. So it's certainly hard to fathom that they're part of some larger organization. It's always possible I guess.

Are you running Wolfir Silverheart? If so, I'd highly suggest Primal Hunter. His middle ability is insane when Silverheart is bonded.
