I think I've successfully turned weekend magic into a part time job.

Before traveling expenses, I'm at least +1k in the last month playing.
I'm waiting for the day when you realize that poker is more profitable and then you leave us forever.

So I've been testing a UW Devotion brew and the one thing I discovered is how (A) Ephara is much, much better than most people think and (B) Heliod paired with her is amazeballs. I need to find a shell to find the pair's best potential.

Apparently my A string is no match for my mighty digits while jamming on some Metallica. Looks like I'm going to have to venture out to the music store tomorrow for more strings. If you guys don't hear from me for a few days, you'll know why. Organize a rescue mission to pull me out of Guitar Center. You'll probably find me camped out in the little room with all the vintage Marshall amps...

Whenever I go to Guitar Center, the employees always overly compliment my guitar. I have a Les Paul 60s Tribute Goldtop, which is essentially just a Studio. I love it, but it's not an incredibly expensive/rare guitar; it cost me about $850. They sell them at Guitar Center. I know this because I bought mine there. They have models of the same guitar hanging up right behind the desk where an employee will, without fail, wonder over mine.

Maybe they think it's vintage? It's like taking your car to the dealer you bought if from for an oil change and having them act amazed over it when they have multiple newer versions on their lot ten feet away. It's actually pretty uncomfortable. I don't like going to Guitar Center because of it.
Dumb
question....why do you bring your guitar back to Guitar Center? Are they doing repairs on it?

Setting the action, stringing your guitar, tightening stuff? All you need is a set of hex keys and an idea of how you want it to feel. Saves you quite a bit of money.

The most complicated aspect of maintenance is adjusting the truss rod in a floating neck guitar like a Strat.

Moving bridges up and down to adjust action or fixing the intonation is difficult if your pitch is bad, but mechanically very simple.

As a mechanically inclined someone, it is my professional estimate that a set of damn fine hex keys will cost you about 40 'Murican dollars.

Friend sent me a box of all his old Magic cards as a very late wedding gift. Had a pretty mint Revised edition Demonic Tutor in it.

Oh, hello post 600.

Me and my friends are talking about it. The driving time is less then it was to Sacramento, so it's fairly likely.

Anyone have thoughts on BNG Sealed archetypes yet? It looks like Heroic is still about the same viability as it was in Theros, the Archetype cards for the most part look like they can take games over (except red and green for the most part) and white got some scary Limited cards in general. If I get to play more than once, I have to go red once on the off-chance of marrying up Forgestoker Dragon and [card]Gorgon's Head[/card] as it's just too hilarious to not try. Most likely I'll go blue first time around and hope for a good secondary color support, though there seems to be reasonable potential in every color.

You guys are sending it down here as well..,I'm waiting to see what it does to my roof as we live in a damned wind tunnel to begin with. We had a high near 60 Sunday, then late this afternoon the winds started up and have been revving ever since. When I left for work this in the evening, it was still in the high 40's, but there was freaking snow blowing in from somewhere and running almost parallel to the ground (just bits, but it was still surreal). We will have a high of 15 and a low of 1F here today, with wind chills in the -20's. Insane.

I think white weenie'll be the strongest, cause you pull one Brimaz, and you
basically get at least 2 free match wins.

I plan on picking red at the prerelease, just because thats who I am, though

As I dont have possiblity to post in Mono Black Agro Thread somewhere for clan members I will post it here:

http://www.wizards.com/Magic/Magazine/A ... 14/welcome

[deck]
Land
20 Swamp
4 Mutavault

Creatures
4 Tormented Hero
4 Pack Rat
4 Agent of the Fates
4 Nighthowler
4 Gray Merchant of Asphodel

Other Spells
4 Thoughtseize
4 Wring Flesh
3 Underworld Connections
2 Hero's Downfall
3 Gift of Orzhova

Sideboard
4 Dark Betrayal
3 Duress
4 Doom Blade
4 Pharika's Cure
[/deck]

Guy won Trial with this deck. What is interesting for me is the fact that this deck uses powerful heroic card in Agent of the
Fates, which is fine on his own (3/2 Deathtouch is fine), however it gets much better with powerful bestow in Nighthowler (in Block Constructed you can see the power of this guy, where you bestow it on any crappy creature and it needs imediate answer... and then you have nighthowler back).

Why I am interesting in this? Because We get another powerful bestow creature in Herald of Torment, so we dont have to run (imo) crappy Wring Flesh or (less crappy) Gift of Orzhova to trigger heroic.

This deck also have reach in form of Gray Merchant and Underworld Connections, which should be important in Black dominated metagame.
I´m more interested in the Gift of Orzhova as a black devotion enabler instead of the control build black has now. There´s a look of an agressive Black "Red Devotion" deck here. If there is a decent enough curve and heroic guys it could build up and end with Gary similar to what red does, but more agressive than current black. Pain Seer into Gift would be nice.
