Alien ghost christmas sounds like something you would see on the history channel.

History channel, where the truth is history.

Alien Ghost Christmas, seen it. Found at your local elderly Alzheimer's unit. Aliens work there, Ghost live their, and it's Christmas to them everyday.

That from a Jewish retirement home. The nose and hair are obvious. No Christmas there.

I guess when we all get that age; elderly gaming (360 or PS4) will be easy. All you have to do is play demos as you will forget what was played and think its a new game every time.

Has anybody ever noticed periods of time where their technical play took a severe nose dive? I'm in my first semester of Law School right now so I'm playing much less Magic, and although I'm reading up on it and brewing at work, I'm not getting games in. Between SCG Providence a couple weekends ago and FNM last night, I've made at least 5 incredibly stupid mistakes that are NOT normal for me to make. Anybody else see time periods like this in their play? Any advice other than "suck less"? Or do I just chalk it up to my concentration being elsewhere?

just get back in the mindset by playing games. This happened to me after I took a break for just a few weeks.... I missed a lethal line of play that they couldn't interact with, and I missed a potential series of draws that would allow me to lose after being considerably ahead (by tapping my mana incorrectly no less).

Seeing lines of play is a skill like any other and can get rusty. Just jam some games on cockatrice, hell sometimes I even start a local game and just play against myself. Even if you're effectively cheating, it trains your mind to see so many lines of play compared to how the opponents' deck will be able to react.

This happens to me when I'm nervous, uncomfortable or there's some sort of hunger/fight-or-flight thing going on in my body. I like to take breaks while playing to relax, do some
pushups, rest my brain and reset. It helps that I play online primarily, since paper play is often a big stressor for me. The smell of sweat and loud talking nearby is very distracting for me.

Also, playing magic is like a sport. Warm up before an event, and practice enough that you don't feel like the underdog every time you shuffle up.

Thanks Fate and Ham. I guess I shouldn't expect to walk into any sanctioned event and have the same level of skill/technical play as I did a month or two ago even though I haven't practiced. Practice makes perfect, they say.

My observation too, which is crazy. Do you know how good a warm shower feels when you're on extacy?

Yeah I skipped the shower. Day 2 about to start.

Good acts yesterday:
DJ Falcon
Doctor P
I Am Legion
Nero

Bad acts:
Alesso
Afrojack (worst ever)
Armin Van Burren

Looking forward to GTA and Boys Noize today.

Pipparoo gives me a wide berth on these weekends.

Where was this? How long ago? Any local Dance Safe chapter around (http://www.dancesafe.org/) or other safety volunteers?

Stories like that always kick me, because the backlash just makes things worse. Local law enforcement cracks down and tries to shut own venues... but that just drives people to less safe venues with tighter invite distribution, so advocacy groups might not be there. I used to volunteer Dance Safe in NY/Montreal circuit
and I can really affirm that positive harm reduction is the only thing that really helps stop stupid unnecessary deaths, injuries, rapes, and price gouging for basic essentials like water.

When I lived in Rochester, NY there was a huge anti-rave kickback following the death of two kids at a show. For more than a year after the incident, most gatherings happened in homeless cities (big safety issue... desperate people surrounded by inebriated hedonists who can afford to spend $ on pure fun) or in private clubs who would turn off the cold water taps in bathrooms, then charge $10 for a 16-ounce bottle of water.
So high, so low, so many things to know.

Many, many moons ago. 2002 I think. To tell you the truth, I am not sure it was a rave or just one massive party. There were a few hundred people there and back then; no one gave a shit on safety. A boring day
became quite interesting for a day visit. My recent ride along was with game wardens this year. Some poor guy was drunk and tried to swim a channel (medina Lake) to rescue a floaty. He ran out of gas and drowned. Real sad, but drinking and drugs while doing significant exercise can and will kill. Raves are very tiring in my opinion. A few go to the emergency room where my mom works. They are literarily drained of power/energy and most often are dehydrated to near death.

Raves are very high risk... like any extreme sport, and you're definitely right that some people don't understand the physical duress involved. Info campaigns help ravers prioritize sustainable, healthy living outside of the party scene. Advocacy groups also form the root of dance community networks, which seems to be the only practical safety net against violence/irresponsible consumption.

People have been dancing themselves to exhaustion while high as kites for millennia. The practice seems pretty stupid under the reasonable fluorescence of an ER, but..

"Attending a satyr revel requires a high tolerance for pain."

Overrated =/= bad. Calling something overrated isn't a comment on it's inherent quality, just it's quality as understood by the majority. The majority of magic players suck. Just because a card is very good doesn't make it an auto-include etc etc
