I always err on the side of land light vs. land heavy for the simple reason that Screw>flood. When you're mana flooded, you have to draw a lot of consecutive cards to get out of it, assuming you aren't playing something like sphinx's revelation in standard or a broodmate dragon equivalent in limite...

I tilt when it matters and there's money on the line, not when it counts for nothing. It's an esteem issue. They see each loss as a reflection on them and take it personally. If they lose, they seem themselves as losers. It doesn't matter if it's a causal or competitive game. Their esteem is tied t...

I didn't watch the super bowl, but I knew that Seattle won. I think it was the moment that everyone on my street started to set off fireworks and honk their cars. I think I might try to speculating on Wild Nacatl. I can probably pick them up for $0.25 or less and then maybe sell them when they go ba...

White isn't deep enough in Theros Sealed. That said my white splash was the nutter butter I can definitely get behind this. It seems that most of the key cards you want for a W/x heroic deck are uncommon/rare. I think my perception of reality was distorted from my first prerelease when I pulled 5 r...

Choosing white doomed you I've had the most success in Theros limited with white, but it usually needs something else with it. Pack wise, that white promo card fucking sucks. Sometimes I think the designers at Wizards have contests to see who can make the worst intro pack rare. The winner gets a go...

I went to my second prerelease today. I did terrible this time, going 2-3. I opted for the white pack and barely got anything to work with. I ended up playing a really bad G/B deck with some ramp. I'm starting to think that G/B is the most playable looking pile of crap I've seen in Theros limited. I...

Went to my first prerelease for this set last night. I picked white as my pack and ended up playing U/W heroic, but really it was almost entirely white except for 4 cards. I went 6-1 for the night, but honestly I got lucky. My opponent in the last game of the last round threw the game by attacking a...

So, going off that copied and pasted article about BNG draft that was like 4 pages ago... I'll probably pick white at the prerelease. I've noticed that I have the most success in Theros draft by running heroic. It works well with combat tricks or bestow and lets you punish people who stumble on thei...

Went to FNM, a lot of home brewing was going on tonight. I went 3-1, taking 2nd. I lost Jund Midrange/Control, I swear every game between that guy and I always has either one or both of us mana flooding or screwing. Doesn't matter the format is. Otherwise I beat BG Aggro Scavenge, Grixis Control, an...

Initial impressions of Born of the Gods Good: Heavily-flavored spells and creatures; amazingly good artwork; mechanics like Inspired and Tribute continue to push design space into new and interesting territory; Black gets a lot of new toys, which makes quite a few people happy, so good for them. Ba...

It helps his weaker ones too. The big one was Esper control where sandals eventually lead to a stream of 5+/5+ monsters with haste. The other consideration was that for awhile my local meta was literally Mono-Green vs Mono-Black in the top 4~8 with the occasional red deck (aka me). Being able to leg...

I can get behind the randomly good singelton idea. Fleetfeather Sandals has been doing that for him this season. Late game, Sandals are on the field, plays a Kalonian Hydra , equip, 8/8 Hydra is now flying at your ass. It's funny to see the more competitive types rage when they die to that dinky lit...

If you're going there, then Act of Treason would be good with the Oracle. I can't sleep. :( Not a bad idea. I can see that being a huge blow out against midrange. Also, my buddy who plays mono-green took an interest in this card: http://mythicspoiler.com/bng/cards/huntersprowess.jpg He's won quite ...

Green card is actually not horrible if a bit narrow...I love the concept that your 1-drops don't have to be useless draws in the late game, but the damned Heroic trigger requirement is one too many hoops to line up for anything but an enchantment deck. http://forums.mtgsalvation.com/attachment.php?...

So, I kinda have a question for everybody. I'm starting to feel kinda bummed out and burned out about magic. I'm tired of switching decks a lot, and wanna stick with R/b, but it's so inconsistent that I just get really frustrated. I also am bummed out because I am starting to feel like there's no p...

Congrats Johnny_Spike. Good luck at your qualifier. I'm not running your exact list, but my Dega Burn match up feels the shakiest. It's so swingy. Sometimes I play cards and they can't do anything about it and sometimes I get burned out before I can do anything about it. Probably need more dragons m...

Went to FNM. It was standard two headed giant. My buddy and I brought our usual decks, but we didn't realize it was two headed giant so quickly before the tournament I boarded out almost all of my 1 and 2 drop creatures as quickly as I could. On the plus side, we won. Primeval Bounty was the MVP of ...

@Johnny_Spike: you board in Warleader's Helix vs everything - why isn't it MD? Lazerburn asked me the same question, but my reason for keeping [card]Warleader's Helix[/card] in the sideboard is because it feels like cards 61 and 62. I could possibly see putting it in over Chandra because I wanted C...

@MDU, I saw her once all night and she was in a hand I mulliganed because it was 2 land, dragon x2, assemble, elspeth, and Chandra. However, I did see Chandra a few times and she was definitely helpful. In the situations I drew her, she would have been more beneficial than a chained or a firedrinker.

Is watching your wife give birth a mistake? Be honest. Strange question unless you're asking because you're wondering if you should watch your SO give birth in your future. In that case, I'll answer. Someone actually found a way to make the Assemble the Legion + Purphoros, God of the Forge combo work? I'm kind of amazed. He must have been laughing his ass off when he was able to combo. I don't know why people are bitching about theros limited so damn much. I can agree that the sealed play is aweful, but I always think sealed is aweful (I play sealed 1/season unless there is a PTQ or something along those lines in sealed). In draft there are sorts of neat interactions and titanic ...
