How few Blood Crypt do you think we can get away with? I think easily -1 Blood Crypt. It showed up more than I needed it, fairly consistency. (Only 7 matches total though, so small sample). I was never at a lack for black. 24 lands meant I was scrying a lot of lands to the bottom, and ended a numbe...

How's the manabase feel? I am pretty proud of it. I also thinking going down to only 2 Chained is justified, given how uninteractive our creature base is. Surprisingly, I haven't found any issues that aren't in the RW-only build. No complaints. I've thought about the 2x Chained. On the one hand, it...

Ended up 3-1 in the DE Match 4: UW Aggro G1: He had Espeth and Brimaz on board. I had him to 2 life, then top decked a land. G2: My opening hand was suboptimal . . . 4 lands (including 1 mutavault) 2x Phoenix, and WLH. In hindsight, I should have mulliganed. I got blind-sided when he countered my ve...

Game went smoothly and I easily won. +4 Firedrinker +2 Chandra -3 Searing Blood -2 Chained -1 Shock G2: I lost early tempo because of 2 Azorius C...

Now 2-0 in the DE. Match 2: Jund Monsters G1: I mull to 6. I chain his Courser early but he gets a great draw and puts Reaper, Zenagos, Domri on board by T5. -3 T/T +1 W/T +2 Chained G2: He mulls to 6 and gets flooded. I hammer him quickly. G3: I keep a 2 land hand (2x Temple) because it's chock-ful...

Match 3 was RW Burn. Game 3 came down to single digits on both sides and my drawing 4 lands in a row sealed the deal. You definitely need to pay attention to land drops more this deck . . . colors and making sure you have a Mountain if you think you're playing chained. And, yup, Zem, that's the SB I...

I do like the idea of having no creatures and playing Toil... Guarantees they will always have cards in hand.
And then they swap out removal and you bring in Firedrinker.

@Elricity Regarding Nighthowler, it can get out of hand VERY fast. They usually drop Sylvan Caryatid on 2 and then by turn 4 or 5 they drop Nighthowler on their little 1/1 Satyr and it becomes an 11/11. You Chain the Satyr and now they have a 10/10 Nighthowler. One of my play test partners runs tha...

I'm leaning towards something like your PBZ build for the SCG Open in Milwaukee this weekend. I've got to figure out the SB still. Its a fringe deck, but how are you guys dealing with G Devotion? It looks like a uphill battle, it doesn't help that its dead cheap to build and has placed well in two PE (6-1). . .

Will now commence testing with Temple of Silence and report data on that selection. I will be especially interested to see how many, if any, games it costs me when I am on the 1-drop plan.
Temple of Silence plays really nice with Blind Obedience and is less risky when playing Cacklers.

While I do agree mulling to avoid discard is a logic fail however keeping a 5 lander is just wrong (unless you have phoenix or something and even then its risky). With 4x Thoughtseize and 4x Duress, there's a 70% chance they'll have at least 1 in their first 8 cards, and a 47% chance they'll draw a...
