What do you guys think about a singleton Keening Apparition main deck? In my current meta I'm expecting to play mainly G/R, MBC and U/w control, so it has a decentish range against all 3 (courser of kruphrix, underworld connections+whip, detention sphere+blind obedience). Even if it whiffs on enchan...

I still can't decide between R/w, R/b and dega for burn post-BotG. R/w means I can play Chained to the Rocks, Boros Charm, Assemble the Legion, Boros Reckoner and Warleader's Helix. CttR is probably going to get worse as people play more enchantment hate (plenty of decks playing revoke existence and...

Thinking of playing this next week. The local meta is pretty heavy on the control/midrange decks, so the sideboard is more tuned towards those match-ups. If you're expecting to face lot of control decks then move satyr firedancer to sideboard and SFD to main, would also play ash zealot over YP (bas...

dega midrange-burn, haven't had much playtesting yet. went 3-0 against rw burn and 1-1 against mbd preboard the only chance I had to play it. I did pick up an obz recently that I'd like to try in my list, but there's nothing that I want to cut right now. Creature (14) 2x Blood Baron of Vizkopa 2x B...

So this is what I'm thinking for post-BotG meta (weighted a bit towards my local meta, which is heavier on G/x for some reason): [deck]Creatures:18 2 Firedrinker Satyr 4 Rakdos Cackler 4 Ash Zealot 4 Chandra's Phoenix 4 Stormbreath Dragon Spells:17 3 Chained to the Rocks 3 Boros Charm 4 Lightning St...

Interesting deck made 4-0 in daily. Post BtG reincarnation of Boros Tokens: http://www.mtggoldfish.com/deck/221643 Do you think it can compete in mono black / Bw metagame? (35% of meta is black based control) I've been mulling over playing this sort of deck for a while now. I think it would be comp...

@poppa_f: Rw Token was weak vs Bx Devotion and Control in the old meta, it hasn't improved much - so I'm not sure why you believe its the correct choice against the very same two list it was originally weak against. Against B/x my previous game plan was to play aggro and a plan B of assemble. I thi...

I'm with Val tbh, I don't want to run fire-dancer full stop, as it's weak against black and U/w, which is a sizable portion of the meta. So, just to make sure I understand the argument against UW: 1) Satyr Firedancer is bad maindeck against UW because it is creature removal 2) Therefore, I'm going ...

I'm with Val tbh, I don't want to run fire-dancer full stop, as it's weak against black and U/w, which is a sizable portion of the meta. My current plan is to either run token strategy with YP/brimaz/purphoros/elspeth/assemble, or a W/R aggro deck running YP/soldier of the pantheon/brimaz/eidolon/ph...

With 4 firedancers I'd consider running Searing Blood and Chandra's Outrage. The first post BotG tournament just finished and the main archetypes were MBD, Mono-u, G/R Monsters and U/w control. I've looked through the decklists and very few creatures are under 3 toughness (this is what you would exp...

I can see where Val is coming from, I did feel a bit disillusioned when the new black sweepers were initially spoiled, as I like playing fast beatdown decks, and that strategy is definitely going to be weaker now. That said, I disagree that R/x is no longer tier 1. My gut feel is that R/b is the bes...

I'm also worried about the new RG god, he seems very powerful - almost to the point where I may run Revoke Existence. . . It's a healthy fear. I've played against it in proxy games and it's seriously brutal. If it becomes a staple in the Gruul archetype then revoke existence will be mandatory sideb...

@pedros- I was thinking about something similar today but reversed. Against black start with high power white creatures (for my deck it would be Brimaz, but for dega BBoV) then board them out and Chandra in for 2nd game, when they side in their LBZ and creature hate, which can now only hit phoenix o...

Went 5-0 at the BotG pre-release :) All I can say is Fellhide Spiritbinder is an absolute beating in Limited. Ended up choosing red, which worked out pretty well as I had searing blood, lightning strike and Bolt of Keranos, plus two Time to Feed, on top of a load of a nice curve of R/G creatures. Ga...

@poppa_f: It looks decent enough (I would cut 3x Mountains, 1x Vaults and add 4x Plains), are you building your list to fight against Red? I'm not sure what advantages this build will provide you against Ux or Bx compared to Rw. It's not a specific metagame play, I just want to see if Brimaz and Ei...

I've been toying with a BotG deck that is along similar lines to Pyroskies (smaller curve + early beatdown + late game reach). The idea is that you get a lot of creatures and enchantments on to the board via YP/Brimaz tokens, chained and mutavault, then suit up a phoenix (or Brimaz / Soldier of the ...

Maybe Purphoros out of the board could be a good hedge against black, in the sense that the ETB damage from Assemble will mitigate the tokens all getting removed. I wonder also if ratchet bomb could be useful for that matchup. Tick it up to 3 counters as insurance against pack rat, but also catches ...

I'm a bit underwhelmed by the red cards in BotG. Can see some potential sideboard cards, but not sure anything is main deckable except Fated Conflagration (in place of Mortars as removal for fatties like Obzedat, SBD, Polukranos, Worm token). Nice bonus that it deals with any Planeswalker (except Vr...

Yeah the fact that he deals the damage means you get blown out if he's removed while the trigger's on the stack, so probably doesn't work against black so well. The synergy with cards like searing blood is pretty amazing though (RR instant: deal 5 damage to target creature and 3 to target player). W...

I thought of quite a good potential combo for BotG last night: Spirit of the Labyrinth + Chandra = you draw 2 cards a turn, opponent can only draw 1 card per turn unless they have a Chandra/Domri/Jace (so basically hoses Sphinx, Underworld connections, Read the Bones, Divination etc). Play 4 Boros C...

I was wondering the other day if it's worth playing more white sources so you can play Soldier of the Pantheon MB in place of cackler. He's good against U/w, as they can't Azorius charm or D-sphere him. He's also a brick wall against Selesnya, blocks Voice, voice token, Smiter, Fleecemane lion and a...

I don't think you want the 3rd Chandra if your meta is infested with R/x devotion, G/x devotion and GW since I'll just board her out Which match ups are you boarding her out in? In the PyroSkies version I leave her in for every match-up, even R/x; G/x and GW, in those match-ups I'm playing control ...
