MDU's Rx Builds

I actually like your Red Tricks list a lot. If Shaman is a good roleplayer, this might actually work. I have tested it very briefly to a quick 2-0 (played Gorger instead of Berserker and 4 Looming Spires - I think they are really worth it in a deck with x/1s) and liked it. But never drew Shaman... :...

How often do you play Shaman as a plain 2/1 with Menace in this list?

I like RB a lot, here's a few points on your list - agree that combining madness and Dragons might be too much to ask in terms of consistency - is Bloodseeker legit? Seems like a horrible card in a list with so few madness outlets... - if it is good, I see really no reason why not to run a playset o...

I'm also still playing with mixed results. I actually own a lot of the expensive cards and from that angle find it difficult to justify not playing one of the Top Decks, but keep being drawn back to this - mainly encouraged by fond memories of playing Red in the past and your (MDU) fantastic results...

I 3-2ed my league yesterday, losing to Humans (hard to beat if they have their nut draws) and 4-color crats (my own fault, as I auto-piloted and auto-boarded only to get blown out my multiple Reflector Mages), winning vs. Esper Dragons (Castigator is so good), Grixis Midrange (Castigator is so good)...

I guess I simply realized in my testing that games where I get to 4 mana and have Dragon(s) available are games I win and Games where I'm stuck with the 1-drops and a bit of removal are the ones I lose. How do you feel about Looming Spires? Just noted that your deck runs lots of 1 drops and no 2 drop besides Abbot - maybe worth the inclusion? On RB Dragon Burn Midrange, it's still one of my favorite brews. It's one of those builds which with every tweak becomes ever more controlling (add sweepers, ...

For the love of red! :flame: Tested the deck quite extensively, results so at ok not great (a little bit better than 50/50 I would say). Agree with LaZer that the combination of 1-Drops, Dragons and Burn is what gives the deck it's flavor. Here's my thoughts on some of the cards: 1-drops in general ...

Respect for holding up the (red) fort, MDU. Some questions on your obviously now more advanced understanding of the format for red decks: - why exactly has RB turned out to be terrible? - why has the entire madness mechanic turned out to be terrible? - given that and the lack of burn, what makes you...

Playing Jeskai online for a few days now and it seems strong. I've tried with and without Rabble and not sure yet. Hushwing Gryff could be an interesting alternative, I think. I like Sarkhan as a mirror tech for the SB. Most intrigued by the fact that all the core cards are KTK or later, so the deck...

I would think that in a Standard RDW list, maindecking 1-2 Roast is doing a lot to improve the Abzan Matchup while not exactly being terrible against everything else except control which is a decent matchup anyways.

Purp, wouldn't Firedancer or Eidolon (if we have it) be a reasonable SB Choice against Rally decks? On The Control MU, I noticed most of you have dropped Eidolon from your board. Purp, I've seen a rather varied mix of control on Magic online decks, including Esper Dragons and creatureless ones. Well done MDU, good to get some MTGO testing results in. The more all of the flipwalkers (except Liliana) see play, the better searing blood will become. At the moment it looks like we're heading this way, at least with Jace and Nissa. One question to you both: Would you SB in Outpost Siege vs Abzan? When I last played the deck, even the Abzan Control lists had a number of Dromoka's Command in their MD and/or SB. Seems like pretty high risk...

According to Frank Karsten it should be 20. 3 Citadel also "feels" most correct as the risk of drawing double Citadel early in the game (which would be awkward) is much lower that way. Darksteel Citadel is certainly no Mutavault in this deck, so the rewards don't outweigh the risks.

I don't think you're controlling them. In eg Abzan midrange MU Roast is more tempo than control. Don't forgot we have a lot of haste creatures on our deck.

Courser is a hell of a Card against us and Roast is a good answer to that one as well.

EDIT: it's called Abzan, these days... ;-)

The list is very tight with few flex slots. The 3-drop spot is crowded and people rather run that extra Outburst or Rabble. Become Immense fulfills a similar role but does a better job in terms of damage output and versatility
