I've literally only played 3 Vintage games in the history of ever, so I wouldn't exactly be qualified to make authoritative statements on Vintage. My experience is that it was incredibly complex, despite being completely busted.

This is true, but it's still a temporary solution. Chained requires them to have the 1-2 cards they are playing that can deal with it, and you can take that into account when calculating swings.

I only run 3 Vaults...because I traded a creased Vault for 2 pack-fresh Stormbreaths. Feels good >:) Though in all seriousness the 4th Vault has relatively marginal value, I'd rather have the consistent mana to cast Reckoner, turn 2 Zealot, etc.

I had 15 Plains in play and a Leonin Arbiter, my opponent had like 5 swamps (a Cabal Coffers got Strip Mined) and was stuck on mana...but because he had a Lord of the Void, the 3rd player assumed he was a bigger threat.

They shoulda killed me while they had the chance >:)
