So doing damage to your opponent instead of yourself doesnt put you any closer to winning?? You act like its just a fog effect. It can do a lot of damage for 2 mana. There are definitely times where you are behind and it is not just a fog effect. There are also situations where DP isn't much better...

I don't think you can say it's better behind than ahead.

If you're behind it buys you some time but you aren't actually any closer to winning. If you're ahead it prevents them from gaining any traction against you. It's a win-more card.

The deck needs some kind of powerful endgame
Does the deck need a powerful endgame if it kills its opponent first?

I'm 100% with Val on Deflecting Palm. The card is situational and gets worse the better your opponent is and the more likely it is that he/she expects you have it. The more you lean on the card and integrate it into your plan A, the more its value drops. It also contributes to inconsistency which is...

That being said, I think you're underestimating exactly how much small aggro is going to be present on day 0. This is usually when savvy players pilot aggro to capitalize on suboptimal three color builds. I think you're absolutely right. I would certainly play the list with Searing Blood at the sta...

I'm basically wondering if a black splash is worth it. I really like the white splash and will definitely be at least RW, but the only card that I really want out of black is Rakdos Charm, and that's just a SB card.

I also think it's wrong, as the UW player pluses and invalidates your YP$, netting a card, and then they don't have to minus (at which point they're ahead on cards) until they can deal with the YP$ with a different card. YP$ keeps them from drawing cards now, but doesn't actually kill them before th...

I think if your meta is primarily UW, Burn, and BW, Eidolon is actually a fine maindeck choice. You can then jam your SB with GW and MonoU hate (read Firedancer), since apparently RabbleRed is not in your meta.

EDIT: But at an open meta like a WMCQ I would play more of a stock list and maindeck YP$

I'm with Rhyno on Jund Walkers. They're faster and post-board they get a lot of interaction so we don't even have a fighting chance. The bad pilots who ramp with Nissa when they play her are very beatable, it's the ones who make a 4/4 every turn that are the problem. When they play Nissa correctly, ...

Quick follow-up: Wear // Tear may be a meta-call. It seems better in Pod and Bogles-heavy metas (the matchups with the most upside for W//T) and metas that aren't expecting to play against Storm. If a room is full of players without Storm hate, then it's better to have the card with more application...

I think at this point, we could play any variation posted within the last 15 pages and focus on becoming better players rather than supa-analyze miniscule tweaks.
Yeah at some point you have to realize the last 2 cards you play don't really matter that much and theorizing will only get you so far.

The idea is that it's more proactive than a Chained to the Rocks while still serving some of the same functions, albeit not as efficiently.

I am doubtful that 2 1/1's will be strong enough to outperform the sheer efficiency of Chained but I eagerly await MDU's testing results nonetheless.

How are you all determining what will be played at these events? The only thing I can think of is looking at some of the last major events in my area (GP Portland was just here, so I will probably use that).
Looking at past results and asking people from the area what the meta is like.

I think the card is too slow and too narrow. I don't ever want to be casting it against MB, and it doesn't really do THAT much for you against RabbleRed.
