For me it's: Detention sphere or Jace: Even if it only sticks for a turn or two, I'm happy Whip The usual fatties Master of waves I get the DtR argument but I like not having to clog my sideboard with situational answers. I get that you don't want situational answers in the board, but wear // tear ...

Some people in this thread really like T/T, while others, including Z, do not. Personally, I hate Toil and Trouble. It's 3 mana, Sorcery speed, and not guaranteed to do a whole lot. The problem with FDS right now though is that there are more creatures clogging up the ground. That said, I ran FDS at...

I'm trying out Sideboarding Dictate and Eidolon of the Great Revel. Dictate is for MB and Eidolon is for control. I think Eidolon is fine because it's a dude that will almost always do 2 despite Blind Obedience, and he seems pretty stellar against the control decks boarding in ram, as they also tend...

It's interesting that we considered Eidolon against cheap aggro decks; I think he would really shine against control decks, despite the fact that he's most prone to removal in those matchups. I might try him out in the board against control as opposed to Trouble or FDS. I wish I could run FDS knowin...

The ceiling on Eidolon is very high; it could be worth consideration. I just don't have the card and don't feel like it would be good enough to go pick them up and test them out. In other news, Harness by Force is the real deal. I was chumping a 10/10 and an 8/7 trample (playing vs dredge); Harness ...

@ Purp and Brainsick: My protege plays dredge, so I've actually played against it a lot (although he is a newer pilot). I also played against it between matches last week and didn't lose any. YP$ does a lot of work against them, and you have all your exile effects for problematic creatures. I don't...

I also am thinking flames of the firebrand are better than seering blood right now. Why you want to play wear//tear when you can just play additional basnishing light? Is our old favourite Viashino dead? Btw do you still go for no creatures plan vs black / bg? Or it isnt good when we dont have asse...

Are people leaving 4 Chained to the Rocks between their main and SB while still playing Banishing Light? The way I've been treating BL is as a more expensive Chained with more flexibility. I can bring it in when I need another Chained or when I'm against control. I've been maintaining the numbers to...

I think that if Wear // Tear becomes more prevalent in SBs (as seems to be the case), then Banishing Light ceases to become a consideration in the 75. I was considering swapping out my 1x CtR and 1x W/T for 2x Banishing Light; trading tempo for versatility. But if we play more enchantment removal, t...

Hey guys, I figured I'd make an account here because I've been playing Burn since about mid Theros and the most discussion seems to take place here. Recently I've made Top 8 in a Win a Case tournament and 2 1Ks, one of which was an SCG IQ and the other was a Super IQ. This is the list I ran most re...

I'm thinking about this SB actually: [deck] 2 Assemble the Legion 2 Chandra, Pyromaster 1 Mutavault 1 Chained to the Rocks 4 Mizzium Mortars 2 Blind Obedience 3 Ash Zealot [/deck] I prefer Ash Zealot against control because FSP. I could play 3 FDS instead, but I would need Boros Charm or 2 more toug...

I was thinking my plan against control would be to bring in 2x Assemble, 2x Chandra, 1x Mutavault, and 3x Creatures. Chandra and Assemble can grind out a game, and the creatures would just let me steal wins. As I type this, I realize that this is not a cohesive plan; the creatures conflict directly ...

We really don't need more than 8 cards sideboard vs any deck. There's generally not enough low impact cards to remove. That said, you already have 6 vs control. You could play glare but that strikes me as rather narrow if you know your meta game. Wear // Tear is not a card you want against control....

I'm working on my SB for an IQ in Syracuse, whose meta is apparently 3/4 GR monsters. I'm running a pretty stock YP list, and here's my SB so far: [deck] 2 Assemble the Legion 2 Chandra, Pyromaster 1 Mutavault 1 Chained to the Rocks 4 Mizzium Mortars 2 Blind Obedience 3 Toil // Trouble [/deck] I can...

All this talk about RR in the Jund matchup seems pretty silly. The Jund matchup is very good for us, as their manabase kills them half the time and they generally just get off the ground far too slowly. By the time they RR us we should only have a few cards in hand and so should they. They topdeck m...

Also, about SB in the MB matchup: My experience has always been with the green splash version, so keep that in mind when I suggest my approach to the matchup. Against MB I try and run them out of resources while making cards worth as much damage as possible. Hammer of Purphoros is obviously your bes...

So Prophetic Flamespeaker's been spoiled; I think it might be good out of the SB against control decks. Boros Reckoner is pretty lackluster in control matchups, but Flamespeaker is kill on sight or it takes over the game. We have Nykthos for mana to play all the cards exiled, and Hammer for haste to...

But, some powerful black cards are: Rakdos's Return, Rakdos Charm, Duress, Thoughtseize, Dreadbore, Erebos, God of the Dead, Mogis, God of Slaughter, Sin Collector, Blood Baron of Vizkopa, Dark Betrayal, Spike Jester. Not sure which are splashable or worthy of the splash, but like I said there are ...
