SSG posted a Brad Nelson vs Tod Anderson video matchup today (premium content) where Brad plays the following deck. There's so many fun variants R/W! [deck=R/W Burn - Brad Nelson] Creatures (8) 4 Ash Zealot 4 Chandra's Phoenix Spells (29) 2 Chained to the Rocks 4 Boros Charm 4 Lightning Strike 4 Mag...

4 Dragons feels too top heavy. There's enough burn to control the board until you draw into him. And drawing 2 too early in the game can be awkward.

I'm planning on sticking with 3.

I think Sully's list is actually better without Mutavault. Not because it would screw up your colored mana requirements, but because it doesn't seem to go well with your plan of attack. Both sides get gassed out more often then you think, also great against devour flesh and preventing all in attack...

anyway to fit in a pair of mutavaults in sullivans version? I hate playing without them. I definitely like his list though, even though I also love satyr firedancer. You might be able to get away with 2 mutavaults if you're only running 3 Reckoners MD. Probably best to goldfish 20-30 times and see ...

@montu:

I'm under the impression that 2x Satyr Firedancer is bad in a list with only 14 burns
Kinda related to this . . . on G2 of my R/G Monsters match, I activated Chandra's ultimate. It took me 8 cards before I hit a burn spell. Fortunately it was a Warleader's Helix. :jam:

@montu: I was reviewing PSully build and your tweaks, I'm under the impression that 2x Satyr Firedancer is bad in a list with only 14 burns - I feel like you need to hit Dancer early to get value and with the lack of high impacted burns (charms and Helix) it doesn't seem as strong. That said after ...

Obvious enough that I went "why'd he do that" when you chained Courser. There may have been a reason to make that play (like the life gain prevents you from getting lethal next turn), but I could't see it. It was probably instinctive to you to play your burn in the combat step, and in doi...

I went 5-0 tonight at FNM, winning 2-0 every match. It was almost too easy. :) Here's what I played - I decided to begin with PSully's build , and modify it to my tastes - I added two Satyr Firedancer s (removing a Boros Reckoner and a [card]Warleader's Helix[/card]), and I swapped in two Mutavault...

Montu's FNM Report

I've been traveling a lot this month (Boston, Las Vegas, Atlanta) so haven't had much time for MTG. I decided to try something a bit different and thought LaZerBurn's deck looked fun. The only changes I made MD were +1 Mizzium Mortars , -1 Mountain . For the SB, I swapped out the 2 Skullcrack for 2 ...

After checking the most current rules (Nov 1st update) it appears that I and the judge were wrong. 504.3. Third, the active player gets priority. Players may cast spells and activate abilities Carry on. What's potentially confusing about this is "drawing a card" doesn't use the stack, so ...

My Own Medicine

My 12-daughter is a pretty good player for her age. Last night she went 2-2-1, and has gone 3-2 before. One of the reasons, I think, is because I won't let her use cards she wants unless she remembers all her triggers, etc. (e.g., "You want another Ajani in your deck? Stop forgetting to activat...

Big Boros = 3+ dragons, no YP$

Pyro Dragons = some number of YP$, less than 3 dragons.

Sounds like some are having difficulty in white based midrange matches. Glare of Heresy ? The meta would have to be packed with W/x aggro/midrange variants to to really make Glare worth it and even then our burn package suites that role fairly well. That's my point. Some people are reporting their ...
