If you mean the GB Constellation Deck, Hushwing Gryff is good. With the Little Jeskai deck and all your red sources, why not try Searing Blood and go the burn route?

Just played an 8-man and won the finals against Shaheen Soorani. Was chatting with him after the match: He said he beat Mardu Midrange 3 times at the open and thought it was a very good matchup for him (apptly he's got some new SB tech to make the matchup even better...) EDIT: Semifinals was vs. Bra...

So he surprised you , huh? ;-) Thanks for explaining. I think maybe my difficulty is your definition of "Deck" then. Which deck is finished? Mardu? Or Mardu Midrange? Or the Mardu Midrange Variant that plays a certain 55 cards? I guess you see where this is getting... Quite honestly, I'd r...

IDK, I find this "finished deck" concept rather disturbing - it seems hard to imagine that any top deck can't be tweaked in reasonable ways. This is especially true with well known Tier 1 decks and with a Meta that's constantly adapting like the current one. Mind you that Chessplayers have...

Interesting, now little Swiftspear makes their way into Jeskai. Curious to see how Defiant Strike is in testing. I tried it out in Mardu, and for me seemed to work less good in practice than on paper. Maybe I was just playing it wrong?

Hmm, maybe you're right and I should have said "late game power" rather than "individual card quality". Fighting through Whip powered Hornet Queens /Sidisis or multiple lifegaining Wingmate Rocs isn't exactly easy with this deck. Closing out games before these engines get going i...

Played three online tourneys over the weekend. One DE (3-1), two Khans of Tarkir Championship Qualifiers (first 1-2 drop, second 4-1 qualifying for the finals next WE). I cut Swiftspear in one of the events, but find the deck curves MUCH better with it included. Mardu Midrange is lacking the individ...

Could be that the post-board control mode ship has sailed. Maybe post-board extra aggro is the way to go? Might have to tweak the mana base a bit, but having swiftspear and bloodstained champ might not be bad. I think champ would love to hit for 4 or 6 points before feeding a butcher and then comin...

I think the format is very midrangey at the moment, so the more aggressive decks like Mardu and Jeskai are playing a tempo game against Abzan which has the highest individual card quality. I feel Boss Sligh is the only real aggro deck in the format worth of mention.

you're not mardu midrange if you run swiftspear. How are you hitting your T1 untapped red consistently? This deck NEEDS the 4 Nomad Outpost and some number of temples, typically 4-8. Midrange and Aggro are definitions that these days are used rather loosely... As opposed to Jeskai we can hit a red ...

Dancer is nothing more than a stopgap solution to Rabble Red if you don't have enough room in your SB. If you don't need to run dancer, you absolutely should try to control Rabble postboard, by boarding in a mix of cheap removal and CA engines (such as Chandra or Flamespeaker) for your Lava Spikes I...

The ELO System has served the Chess Community well for over 50 years now. However, it's 1:1 application in a game where the outcome between two different players is far more dependent on luck than in Chess has to be limited.
