Just played an 8-man and won the finals against Shaheen Soorani. Was chatting with him after the match: He said he beat Mardu Midrange 3 times at the open and thought it was a very good matchup for him (apptly he's got some new SB tech to make the matchup even better...) EDIT: Semifinals was vs. Bra...

Played three online tourneys over the weekend. One DE (3-1), two Khans of Tarkir Championship Qualifiers (first 1-2 drop, second 4-1 qualifying for the finals next WE). I cut Swiftspear in one of the events, but find the deck curves MUCH better with it included. Mardu Midrange is lacking the individ...

Could be that the post-board control mode ship has sailed. Maybe post-board extra aggro is the way to go? Might have to tweak the mana base a bit, but having swiftspear and bloodstained champ might not be bad. I think champ would love to hit for 4 or 6 points before feeding a butcher and then comin...

FYI, here's what BradPitKeeper ran to a 7-1 finish at the last Standard MOCS. Not really Boss Sligh, but I'll post it here anyway... [deck] Creatures (16) 4 Foundry Street Denizen 4 Monastery Swiftspear 4 Valley Dasher 4 Goblin Rabblemaster Spells (22) 4 Hordeling Outburst 4 Magma Jet 4 Lightning St...

http://magic.tcgplayer.com/db/article.asp?ID=12187 Interesting Article, thanks for posting it. I agree with the reasoning that 1 drops are good in a format where people durdle with CIPT lands. The Mardu deck she posted reminds me of the Black Rabble Variants Todd Anderson suggested a while ago. Thi...

you're not mardu midrange if you run swiftspear. How are you hitting your T1 untapped red consistently? This deck NEEDS the 4 Nomad Outpost and some number of temples, typically 4-8. Midrange and Aggro are definitions that these days are used rather loosely... As opposed to Jeskai we can hit a red ...

Glad you like the deck, JulianFrank. MDU did a lot of work on this variation indeed so your shoutout is justified - he's an exceptionally strong player with an open mind for crazy ideas, and one of the many reasons why this forum is so much fun to contribute to. Thankfully Raise the Alarm is still a...

Dancer is nothing more than a stopgap solution to Rabble Red if you don't have enough room in your SB. If you don't need to run dancer, you absolutely should try to control Rabble postboard, by boarding in a mix of cheap removal and CA engines (such as Chandra or Flamespeaker) for your Lava Spikes I...

How is the rabble red matchup from the burn s side? I went 3-0 vs burn and I don't know if the matchup not as bad as I thought, I for lucky, or I was way better/more prepared then my opponents. Input appreciated. I would say the matchup is still in our favor, but I would not rate it as extreme unle...

I think at this point, we could play any variation posted within the last 15 pages and focus on becoming better players rather than supa-analyze miniscule tweaks. Lol, yes, there MIGHT be a also a slightly repetitive element in the issues we're discussing here (Mortars versus Firedancer? now THAT's...
