Just like pyknite winter of 1995, every where there pyknites, even necro bowed in deference to the power of the pyk.

I'll have you know that I rarely ever see a D-hungry mouth or ass around me. Because they're usually full. So you've disproven my reasoning, but proved my larger point: you wouldn't know a d-hungry orifice because you've only ever seen full ones. Also I need to get my hair did, because it's gotten ...

@ Darthstabber I think it's probably better to MB for aggro / midrange. The deck accells at that. If you want to be pre-boarded for Control, Pyro Red w/ reckoners SB is probably the better call. The list I posted with the extra falters is probably a good option too, although I won't get to test it ...

Depends on your opinion of mutavault. I've seen versions with none, I've seen no vaults, i've seen 4 vaults. My personal thought is 2 is correct with reckoner in the sideboard, 1 if he's maindeck. With out the vaults my total investment haas been $25, but I already had the reckoners, mortars, and ze...

I just picked up a fun rules snippet from an article...the damage generated by Burning Earth can be redirected to planeswalkers. So not only can you tie down UXx decks manawise, you can kill their Jace with their own spells. Too funny... This is new information that makes me think better of burning...

Glad it's going well Narcasus. Which midrange specifically has been giving you trouble? Can you provide any testing notes? Darth, what's going wrong vs aggro? All of these games are preboard (single games), and I am reaping what I have sewed for preboarding for control. With my reckoners in the boa...

Ug control, the proactive counterspell deck
So I know this is redmage's board, but just because you love steak doesn't mean you can't enjoy fish from time to time. This deck began back in rav/csp/tsp/10th standard when I was called out on being a 1 trick pony redmage (so much good burn in that time), and as a former bluemage I was mildly insu...

For the record, I believe there's a special place in hell for UW players. I hope you mean constructed UW players, I keep ending up in UW in draft because that's what keeps being open (because no respects it, and I keep winning with it). That and I was a dedicated MUC player until they failed to rep...

I don't have tournament results yet (as I have stated before I seem to only be able to find drafts, which is okay because I have taken first or second in all of them so far), but testing has me (pre-board) 70-30 vs. control variants, 60-40 vs. midrange, and god aweful against aggro. This data is all...

A 0% chance of drawing a 2-vault hand is significantly less than a 10-15% one (citing Johnny's tests). Are you comfortable with 1/10 hands being sub-par? I'm not. Means as how I don' t need to hit RRR on turn three preboard johnny's tests likely don't apply to me. And also, for the umpteenth time, ...

I truly believe, with the most conviction that I can muster, more than 1 Mutavault in this deck is going to FUCK anybody. I truely believe with all the conviction that I can muster that with reckoners and an extra mountain in the sideboard that 2 vaults will not fuck you over. Am I preboarding for ...

Reckoner, Phoenix, and Hammer all serve completely different purposes. You're also neglecting that most of the removal for Reckoner will hit your opponent back/kill a creature/stonewall attacks. 1) doomblade is back, and hero's downfall is a thing. 2) dsphere and supreme verdict haven't left us. 3)...

He's so good right now that you want 3-4 in your deck no matter what. In Pyro Red, he's SB material. In Mogis, he auto-include maindeck because he synergizes so well with then deck's namesake card. Devotion kills, brah. I am not arguing he isn't good, i'm not a complete moron. 3-4 definitely belong...

@khaospawn: Your argument is dead on except for one niggling little issue: reckoner is not necessarily an auto include. If you are main decking him then you are quite right about needing to hit him on curve. If you aren't (which is a perfectly valid option if you want more speed) you can easily get ...

Thanks, i'm playing around with it at the moment since theros came out. I am still not happy with it, and I just realized how unsatisfied I am with some of the swaps. Denizen over Satyr right now because I don't have them online, plus I imagine the overall damage from Denizen will be roughly the same against other decks while also being a hedge to the prominence of red strategies on MODO over the past week. 20 lands with three four drops is a little greedy but I...

All 4 drafts I've done have had me in white, and one draft I actually managed do monowhite. Probability of hitting three mountains does not change. While this is very true it will cause moments where you feel it does. You are going to have a moment or two where you will draw vault as your third land and feel like you were screwed. This is not a reason not to put them in, it's just psychol...

Chandra, pyromaster is a great card but it's immediate impact is roughly the same as goblin shortcutter, and in devo red any 4 drop should do a metric ton on impact. Turn 4 is the aiming point for victory, and chandra does not contribute toward tht end. Zeman's pyrored variant uses her great effect,...

I dont understand the comparison to maaka and fanatic of mogis at all to be honest I think people conflate the two because the both technically cost 4. Playing maaka happens, I did it several times in testing, and it being able to be a hill giant is not irrelevant, but for the most part it's an off...

I probably wouldn't run smelt, I am trying to try racing the whip. Here's the thing: crack stops lifegain once, and does nothing against the fact that it give all their creatures unearth (3)(b). Codex shredder was cute, but the new pandora's box analogue is fantastic. Will it win you games, probably not, but it will do wild and crazy things which is argubly better depending on your edh group. My niv mizzet, dracogenius deck has little actual possibility of winning other than chainbreaker de...
