Master Bantomancer

Ok, here's what I've been testing. It's fun as hell, but not nearly T1. I'd like to improve it however I can though. One caveat. I'm NOT playing Thragtusk. Period. If adding Thraggy is what's needed to make this an FNM worthy deck, I'll just shelve it. I don't mind if others play it, but I just don't think it's a fun card. That probably means I'm bad at Magic and at life.

[deck]Master Bantomancer +r[/deck]

The Boros Charm and Assemble the Legion are replacing 4 Gyre Sages and 2 Sphinx's Revelation, but I'm thinking Assemble is really a sideboard card, and might swap them out for 2x Domri Rade, or maybe a couple of 1 CMC mana
dorks.

Edit: Not sure what's happening with the Deck tags...Silverblade Paladin looks formatted perfectly normal in edit mode.

Amen! I can't stand Thragtusk, and I don't want to have to include him in my build just because everyone else does. I'd rather fight through with actually synergy and a gameplan than good stuffs.

Keep on keeping on, Master Biomancer is begging to be broken.

As for the deck. Assemble is definately sideboard tech against control. maybe selesnya charm instead. 4 Boros/3 Simic/3 Selesnya?. Silverblade feels kind of out of place to me. I think Centaur Healer might prove a better inclusion. He will help agains the agressive match up. What is the plan to deal with the first two turns of the game against aggro? Do you feel that if you hit turn 4 and aren't dead yet you can consitently stabilize and get the win? Not being sarcastic, I am truly asking.

Come to think Boros charm feels out of place too. I like the versatility but Searing Spear maybe a better inclusion with the ability to hit creatures too. With no trample and your guys being big enough to win combat without double strike. Clearing blockers is crucial to get damage through.

The thoughts on those cards...in a magical Christmasland scenario, Silverblade is there to pair with the Angel of Saint Traft, Boros is there to protect from Supreme Verdict.

I'm not married to them though.

As far as the first two turns...turn 1, mana. That's it. I don't have any 1 CMC, which is why I'm considering mana dorks. Turn 2, Farseek. Turn 3, I should be able to drop one of several 3 drops, or a Biomancer.

Ok...considering dropping Silverblade and Reckoner in favor of a 4-of dork, and maybe putting 2x Gyre Sage and 2x Sphinx's Rev back in...

Looking at the list, I see no reason why you wouldn't run a mana dork. You're counting on several high cc cards for this to work out, so getting to them faster is a boon. Moreover, if everything is working, a late game dork is pretty OK with the biomancer out.

I also really hate 'tusk.

I understand why people run him, but for me...he's just boring. I'll never get all up in someone's business if they play one, but I don't want to run any myself.

In summation:
- Not being a hipster
- Not a delicate and unique snowflake
- Just not interesting design to me

Re: mana dorks...yeah, probably some 1 CMCs. Silverblade is probably just winmore in this list, so he can go. Reckoner, I don't know how well it really fits, but it COULD be a great wall while I'm getting everything else online.

I've been wondering if there is a bant deck that can be based around this shell, although Prime Speaker bant is probably all around better

[deck]
4x loxodon smiter
4x geist of saint traft
4x thragtusk
4x restoration angel[/deck]

Maybe not 4 of's of each but those strike me as really efficient value creatures to put into a midrange/control shell. Although the zegana lists are probably better.

Wait--but I am a delicate and unique snowflake--and I want my decks to reflect that!

You're almost a control deck--I feel like you're sort of stuck between midrange and control. If you're midrange, you need more creatures. If control, more disruption/removal.

Agreed on the paladin probably needing to come out.

Ok, silverblades and reckoners removed. 2x Domri Rade in, 4x mana dorks in...and then I can't remember what went in the other two slots.

I'm torn between adding a few cheap counters to protect against Mutilates and such, because those will just ruin my day, Fathom Mages for draw (yes, I know it's bad, but I think it could be pretty interesting in this, with the angel providing reliable evolve for a few turns...) or just putting Sphinx's Revelation back in.

I may be playing some jank, but that's why it's in testing, and not seeing FNM just yet.
