If be happy playing MBC all day with UW honestly, that sounds awesome.

I don't know why people are bitching about theros limited so damn much. I can agree that the sealed play is aweful, but I always think sealed is aweful (I play sealed 1/season unless there is a PTQ or something along those lines in sealed). In draft there are sorts of neat interactions and titanic clashes of massive beasts, and there are enough cute combat tricks that there is always suspense if they have even one mana open.

Who is bitching? I thought it was a popular draft format. Not one that will go down as among the best, but solid enough

Did not do do well at FNM I did fine till I ran into a UW deck. He drew 3 RTR Jace and more draw than I could handle both damn games. I fucking hate that deck and wonder if he cheating some how as his hands are always to good to be true. All I did was react to his plays or future plays after thoughtsieze. I shuffled his deck just to be sure, but it did not good. Whatever he needed to draw against me; he drew it or double of it. Just bull shit no way draws constantly from him. My deck was getting great draws, but could not keep up against his constant digging. I play mono-black devotion and I usually eat UW easy. WTH?
Always happens, no matter what deck you play against. Just laugh it off and chalk it up to bad luck on your part (and a bad matchup).

Someone was bitching about sealed THS earlier. I actually think it's okay. I've played it quite a bit due to having to practice for the PTQ and there were some decks I played where their pool was just flat out ridiculous but I had my share of those as well.
What you have to realize is that, while the removal in the set is light, there are a lot of combat tricks in the set to make up for it.

I think he was bitching about sealed aka worst format ever.
I don't know, all limited that is not cube is boring as hell to me. I find that I have to really really have a lot of free time in order to want to play some limited.

I feel the same way. If I'm having fun playing limited, it's probably just because I'm winning. I just don't see how people find it more fun than constructed.

Control in my experience beats black devotion. Me and my friend play Esper and UW respectively and the black matchup always seems like a cakewalk.
Limited is limited. I'm not a big fan, but it's fine.

Limited is meh. I enjoy prereleases. That's about as far as it goes.

Exactly. It seems to be little more than a test of skill. I guess people like it because they're good at it and can make money off of it. Maybe it would be more fun if I did it with friends rather than with people that frequent the same store as I do.

I'm enjoying it. My inner Timmy wants to scream, "Activate interlock! Dynatherms connected! Infracell, up! Megathrusters are go. GO VOLTRON!" as I suit up some stupid
Traveling Philosopher or a heroic card.

I've concluded that I'm pretty much the worst at MtG. Scrubbed the fuck out at a local GPT. Might try some draft next time.

Doesn't mean you're bad. Look at people posting crap decklists and claiming to have taken top 8 at some gpt or went 4-0 at fnm. Doesn't mean they are good.
Being able to admit to and evaluate your weaknesses is the sign of a good player.

So my buddy comes over and we're going to drive to our LGS (an hour away). First thing he does is hands me the two Mutavaults that I apparently let him borrow...I'd forgotten and chalked them up as stolen a while ago. Go to LGS, manage to trade a Mutavault and use my store credit to acquire 3 Stormbreaths.
Pyroskies / Big Boros / Devotion Combo / Whatever-the-fuck-i-want-to-play-with-red here I come >:)

Can you make it up for GP Sac? LP is coming, I'll be there and I know some guys from CFB heading up from Oakland.

Nope....

But it kept fine, it's been inside and my apartment stays climate-controlled even when I'm not here.

Quite surprising, yet not so. I kinda suspected the whole time that the "airtight tea tin" add on we sold was just a load of tripe the whole time. Glad it held up.

The decorative tins are worth it just because they're decorative. I may or may not have a few despite not believing in their magical tea-preservation powers.

I enjoy draft because the grounds are even, and I never have to track down cards, or buy expensive cards or anything in particular. It requires no investment other than the tournament fee. And I like the drafting itself, and the on the spot deck building. The fact that I'm pretty good at it is just icing on the cake, I haven't done worse than 2-1 at any draft FNM in 4 years.

I've got an idea for a UB Control variant for GP Melbourne (Standard); going to work on it for two weeks; if it doesn't come together ill play UW Control.

Apparently 2 UB control decks top 8'd a PTQ today that I had to skip. Leaning on ratchet bomb is apparently good enough.

Probably not. I have a lot of obligations to my family. Especially with all the medicine my wife is taking, I need to be close by in case there's problems. I'd love to go, I'm just unable to.

Bringing Robots with Blood Moon to an unknown tournament is a really safe bet, it's a consistent force in Modern
Barring that, Splinter Twin is a strong choice
The Red version of the deck then? Rather than the U with Thoughtcast?
Abso
Lutely
Could you post a deck list? I always thought Blood Moon would weaken Robots since winning via infect is a real option

But basically, the reasoning for playing UB is that it beats MBC, UW and Esper; but it folds HARD to red or green aggro; both of which nobody plays. I don't know how good against Mono Blue it is; I *think* it will be OK because MBC is decent against Mono Blue and it also doesn't have sweepers.

It's to lose nexus if you are completely locking out the other player.
I think most people go UR anyway, with thoughtcasts and galvanic blasts main and blood moons in the side. Affinity can be really good at producing multicolored mana.

Fuuuuck. It's terrifyingly cold outside. Wind chills are supposed to be in the -10 to -30 range through the day. Last year, it was heavy amounts of snow, and this year it's arctic cold snaps.
Thankfully, the snow we did get didn't amount to much. I'm at least grateful for that because my wife insisted on going to work. At least she'll be at the hospital if she goes into labor today.

We've received about 20 inches of snow overnight with no signs of stopping. Tomorrow's high is expected to be in the negative twenties.

I'd rather have 20 inches of snow than 20 inches of redthirst.
