Concerning Todd Anderson. This is the first time I've read his "infamous" article. It sounds like he might have been in a deep depression plus who knows what else was wrong with him. Nobody really knows what he is dealing with except he and his wife. I don't feel sorry for the guy, but it sounds like he was really down on himself, and that can be a tough hole to dig yourself out of. I should know, I have to deal with depression and anxiety every day. Sometimes your behavior can come off as lazy. Truth is, you're too petrified to make any big life decisions. And when you have to choose between doing the thing that you love and working a dead end job because you don't have the education for anything else, well, that really isn't a choice at all.
Then again, I can also see how some view him as a lazy crybaby. Right after his wife tells him to follow his dreams, he is immediately happy. At least, he says
as much in his article. This might also be a sign that he is suffering from manic/depression. I've observed a few friends and family that are like this, and it's a dramatic switch from being incredibly happy one day to acting like the sky is falling the next day. I don't want to justify his behavior, but just remind people that this article was just a glimpse into his life. Like an iceberg, there's probably much more beneath the surface that we can't see.
In the end, nothing he does affects any part of my life, so I don't really care what he does with his.

Damn, that read with clarity worthy of being a response from Dr. Sweets on Bones. I just thought his article made other top players give Todd the Gibbs stare.

It's tempting to chalk it up to depression but I'll give you two hints what was really going on with him then.Concerning Todd Anderson. Hint 1: Reread the article and specifically look for an occasion that he is concerned about his wife's feelings independent of how they relate
to himself. Think of it like an Anderson Bechdel test.
Hint 2:
I wanted her to be happy but there was one problem:
I wasn't happy.
And the words came to life all flowing forth at once like an avalanche of admission. I wanted to be free from the confines of a crappy job that did nothing but hold me back. I wanted a chance to prove to myself and to everyone else that I[/
color] could make it as a Magic player and writer. I wanted her to believe in me and to just give me a chance.
I wanted her to be proud of me.
It's annoying people because they suspect they're being pitched to by someone that is confused what he is selling. Sorry, reading statements like his became sort of a hobby of mine.
My opinion

my brother spent 2 years in TSA, Wraith, its not where you wanna be at.
The job I applied for was chief inspector for Dallas airports and surrounding little ones. It requires a Masters to apply for

I have heard the complaints and know many of them are true (Houston TSA

sell them at high prices cause they are the only game in town. I would pay for quality products instead of shit set to expire today or tamorrow)
Regardless, I don't think either will happen as no responses have been seen in a year. WTF? Dallas PD is looking really good right now.

No need to be sorry. Everyone sees things differently. I try to understand everyone's point of view, and that sometimes makes me a little too forgiving of their trespasses. The neat trick with people like him is you don't have to know the entire story. You only need to know his "story" to know what you need to know about him. It wasn't an accident that he wrote an article for a MTG site and yet it read like a dollar romance novel.
He personally doesn't concern me but I go through these things because I plan to start having kids soon and I want to raise them to be on guard to these type of people. They aren't bad people but they do inadvertently destroy people by pushing those around them into being part of the B cast of their story. As long as you're only an extra in their story (the unnamed manager), they're harmless.

Elricity, what you're describing resonates VERY much. The neat trick with people like him is you don't have to know the entire story. You only need to know his "story" to know what you need to know about him. It wasn't an accident that he wrote an article for a MTG site and yet it read like a dollar romance novel.

My 2nd job in the company I'm working for was in the Customer Service department,
coordinating with the marketing departments so that the reps had information. I left that department to project manage a migration of our fulfillment systems. Toward the end of that, one of the employees in Customer Service, who I thought I was friends with, was able to get her manager fired. This manager was a fairly poor manager, everybody agreed, but Erin is the one who lead the charge with HR and the Senior Manager.
I ended up getting the nod to manage the group (as well as maintain my other duties - and all for the low price of no raise!). It turns out that the "poor manager" before me was definitely a poor people person, had mistreated some workers, but when it came to business decisions she made good decisions. I made similar ones, and Erin decided to get rid of me too. And she was more than half successful. I'm still at the same company, and making the same salary, but not in charge of that group any longer.
In the long run I benefited because I can write it off as a
lateral move and it's given me a much more flexible schedule to focus on starting Law School.
But DAMN I've never met a more self-centered or manipulative person in my life.

Thanks to NerdBoyWonder for the amazing sig!
Son, I want you to know that no matter what happens between your mother and me, it's all your fault.
