Sorry to hear that so many people got sick after Thanksgiving. I hope everyone has a speedy recovery.

We had a good time visiting my side of the family. My two nieces are just adorable, and they loved playing with my son. It was also good that my daughter got more reassurances of help and support from my brother and sister. This past year has been a rough one for her. She still hasn't quite recovered fully from what happened. It's tough to believe that it was a year ago. I'd like to forget that particular anniversary.

I'm disappointed that neither of my uncles attended. It's weird going from big, boisterous family gatherings to just a few people. Death took its toll from us by claiming my dad and both grandmothers over the past several years. It shook the family dynamic pretty hard, and the two uncles just kind of withdrew from everything.

For some reason, I'm in a somber mood this evening.

Happened that way to mine too, man. Dad had 3 brothers and 3 sisters who'd come from both ends of the country to be at Thanksgiving at grandma's house. Each of them had 3 or 4 kids of their own, and some of those kids were old enough to have kids... then grandma died and we just didn't do that anymore. My dad died ten years ago and I haven't seen any of my aunts or uncles since the funeral. Same thing with my wife's family when her grandpa died two Thanksgivings ago. The important thing is what you make with the family you've still got.

I've just stopped giving a shit about thanksgiving. It's a month from christmas, and I am going to see family then, so why bother. Of course I'm single and childless so it's really easy. The only downside is the annual guilt trip, which is better than 7 hours on the road and 5 guilt trips in person, and my grandma guilt tripping me about things that aren't under my control or happened before I was born, plus the cutting remarks about never going to be giving her great grandkids. Why would I put myself through that twice a year? Maybe it's just bitterness and cynicism, but without bitterness and cynicism my only personality traits would be laziness and an experimental streak.

So I just blew $30 on chain lightnings, purphoros help me! I am trying to convice myself that I bought them for legacy, but I am just lying to myself, I bought them for pauper, which is more than the value of all 5 of my other pauper decks combined. Spending that kind of money on pauper feels so wrong. If I were actually buying them for legacy (or spending that much on modern staples) I would consider it a small expenditure, even for standard or commander it would be fine, but spending more than $.25 on a card for pauper gives me all sorts of feel bads.

Don't feel bad. I spent ~$20 on a pauper deck on MTGO and only played it once.

I hope everyone starts feeling better soon. The holidays have a way of bringing people down in one way or another, it seems.

What pauper deck costs $20? I know that MODO prices are a bit askew of paper, but what commons are that expensive?

Off my head, Lotus Petal.

Oh, I shouldn't be here anyway. Need to prep up for an exam eta 21 hours from now. I'm drained as it is right now.

I'm really interested to see what two-color gods are in this set. Heard some rumors that the red/white one might be coming.
That'd be awesome if he doesn't suck...

Best two strategists are both mtgs exiles. I'm sure the delicate sensibilities of now inactive scrubs (sorry, former PT plYers) were really worth protecting.
Good. Your ass getting banned is the only way I'm not going to get curb stomped in the voting for best standard strategist... in fact, what did I ever do to piss off that one guy that nominated me?

I'm going to play Modern tonight and I have no idea what I want to play - Goblins!, RDW, or Burn.

Why am I so indecisive!!??

Expected Meta of Tron, Merfish, Pod, Junk, various Red decks, Living End, Storm, Affinity, and UWR.

I'm not so really concerned with making a metagame call since I really believe that my awesomeness will overcome all, but I think it just boils down to which beloved Red archetype I want to fool around with.

Can I just mash all 3 decks together and go with that?

I scrapped a pauper Delver idea after I priced the paper at about $70. That one eventually turned into a Caw-Blade deck using Bonesplitter instead of a Sword.

Play Boros 20/20/20.

My UR Delver pauper deck was like $15 or $20.

Prices were way skewed. For some reason it had Cloud of Faeries at $4 a piece and Daze at over $7.

Play Boros 20/20/20.
I've tried it and I'm not a fan. However, I did take the deck and used it as a platform for my current RDW.

Still, the thought of going Boros brings back fond memories of playing with Brozek Boros landfall last year. Turn 3 win? Yes, sir.

Could play Naya Zoo as well. Or even...Naya Landfall.

Green only for Knight of the Reliquary which is a baller Magic card.

I love that deck. I can't tell whether or not the new legendary rule actually hurts the Flagstones that much, though. It's tougher to get 4 landfall in a turn, but you can still accomplish it since you're running fetches and Ghost Quarters anyway.

If we're looking for turn 3 wins in pauper you might as well play burn, it has several lines that can accomplish that feat.

Begin momentary interlude of adorableness.

My son does not say "yes". Instead, he says "we go yay" when he's asked if he wants something.

End momentary interlude of adorableness.

If anybody has access to SCG Premium articles, read the new one by Chas Andres. I typically can't stand reading anything he writes, but this one was pretty funny.

I saw on MTGS that the lands are WG, RB, and UW. Thus I would conclude that the sub gods will match those colors (big maybe).
I would consider the new Ajani might be in this set. Hopefully not stupid high CMC.
Maybe red and black will get some nice devotion cards.

I woke up this morning sick as hell. :ugh: It's nice outside and I could be raking it in on plane washes instead of hacking and coughing my lungss up.

I was actually annoyed by it. It's basically just a big troll article. And it's behind their paywall.

I'm on a free month of premium because I attended the SCG Open in Providence the other weekend, but regardless of whether I'm paying for it or not I want actual content behind paywalls.

We watched it on Netflix. I laughed, but I'm also very glad we did not pay to see it at a theater.

It was alright. The best part was watching parents angrily taking their little kids out of the theater because, apparently, the "R" rating didn't tip them off to the fact that Ted isn't a kid's movie.
