I do very much love that speech, as well as the conversation between Westley and Anigo during their duel. But the Miracle Max scene ranks in my top movie scenes of all time...Billy Crystal and Carol Kane are just such a freaking hoot. I love her as the Ghost in Scrooged as well, running with Jame's mention of Bill Murray hilarity.Favorite speech from The Princess Bride
Westley: To the pain means the first thing you will lose will be your feet below the ankles. Then your hands at the wrists. Next your nose.
Prince Humperdinck: And then my tongue I suppose, I killed you too quickly the last time. A mistake I don’t mean to duplicate tonight.
Westley: I wasn’t finished. The next thing you will lose will be your left eye followed by your right.
Prince Humperdinck: And then my ears, I understand let’s get on with it.
Westley: Wrong! Your ears you keep and I’ll tell you why. So that every shriek of every child at seeing your hideousness will be yours to cherish. Every babe that weeps at your approach, every woman who cries out, “Dear God! What is that thing,”
will echo in your perfect ears. That is what to the pain means. It means I leave you in anguish, wallowing in freakish misery forever.
Should be directed at Maze's End players.
Edit: And then piss on them for good measure.
This. Billy Crystal is hilarious in Princess Bride. I'm always telling my wife, "While you're at it, why don't you give me a paper cut and pour lemon juice in it?" All with Crystal's New York JewishI do very much love that speech, as well as the conversation between Westley and Anigo during their duel. Very cool concept...boy finds out from dad that the men in their family can travel through time to get "do-overs" in order to try to get fix missed moments. In typical Richard Curtis fashion, the realities of getting what one wants often have very poignant impacts on life. If you and Pip enjoy such emotional exploration of life's moments, do take it in.Will look into it.
Cool movie if you like character-driven looks into relationships of all sorts...Richard Curtis films are something you generally like or hate. If you choose to watch it, do not bail before the end as it is a "full circle" kinda thing and you miss the entire message if you don't finish it. My ex originally watched it and bailed early saying she didn't care for it, and I encouraged her to go back and finish it...she came back with an entirely different opinion.Never seen Love, Actually.
There's bromance in Love, Actually as well. Give it a chance. The last thing I'll be watching is anything about love/relationships...
