Browbeat is the best punisher ever and was actually good at the time on account of the power level of other cards in the deck. Vexing Devil sucks in all formats.

+1 DS's comments on Border Collies. They are fantastic, smart working dogs, but leaving them unstimulated can result in all sorts of neurotic issues. They are outrageous Frisbee dogs, and if you have room, tossing disc to them is a very effective way to exercise them and keep them worked and happy.

I know he sucks, but that doesn't keep me from liking him. I kinda want to build punisher.dec and play it as a casual deck.

Punisher stub
[Deck]
creatures
4 vexing devil
4 oona's prowler
4 shivan wumpus

Spells
4 blazing salvo
2 choice of damnations
4 dash hopes
4 molten influence

4 breaking point

I just made out like hamfactorial today.

A local guy with a massive collection is selling his stuff through my LGS owner. I stopped by a few days ago to get things I knew I needed like Lotus Petals, Simian Spirit Guides, Kird Apes, Preordains, Lightning Helix, etc, but stopped by again today since I got off work a little early. I decided to thumb through the rest of the stuff to see if anything caught my eye and I happened upon a playset of Goryo's Vengenace in the box labeled $0.50. I'm a sucker for reanimation spells, so I went ahead and nabbed them not thinking anything of it. Then I got home and something told me to check the price on them. HOLY SHIT. I got a $40+ playset of Goryo's Vengeance for $2!!!
I paid $60 for my playset of goryo's
vengeance... You bandit.

I don't even feel bad about it because:

1) I really didn't know how much it was. I knew they were more than $1 but beyond that Modern Reanimator hasn't been on my radar.
2) I was thumbing through this massive quarter rare box he has a couple months ago and found 10 Cloudstone Curio just sitting there, so I handed them to him and told him to put them in his case. He owes me. :p

[card]Goblin Game[/card:
35zpp9ql]. It's a stretch, but it's always fun to have in a deck. It still fits the theme of "cards that can go horribly wrong for either you or your opponent."

Yeah, the puppy's already a little ball of energy. We have 2 other dogs though, and they help keep her active. We also have a large backyard (one great thing about living in the south), so she gets lots of exercise playing with us back there

Speaking of Satyr, my opponent might think he lived the dream when he Mortar'd my Satyr on turn 2 (He was on play). Then I played double Emmys into Striker.

On the other hand...

This sure stirs the Gruul in me (They are my favorite color combo. Deepwood Menace was my first precon).
I've got that promo from getting second last fnm (my lgs gives them to first and second places), and. Might get another this friday.
If somebody wants to trade for them, lemme know ;P
I also have two of the game day nighthowler promo -shrugs-

I actually ran vexing devil in my rdw... In my defence it was before I knew any of you, and I only ever ran 2 (despite urging from friends to run more e.e) and only ever treated it as a sorcery slot-wise...

I forgot about goblin game. 7 mana is a lot, but that seems like so much fun. Might have to get some lifegain going, cut black and go naya for tamanoa seems hilarious. Maybe add some more burn. Punisher lifegain seems like a fun concept.

What's blaklanner tier? I know i'm missing an inside joke, I'd just like to know what it is.

Tier -1 (Negative One) - Blaklanner - This is the Blaklanner tier. Blaklanner didn't send ham Unhinged Mountains so he was demoted. Tier -1 members will be allowed to be ridiculed for arbitrary reasons. The only requirement to becoming or staying a Tier -1 member is that you be Blaklanner. +EDIT+ Due to extenuating circumstances, this Tier has been expanded to include non-Blaklanner members - though it will retain the name to honor the man who first achieved its dizzying heights.
  • Blaklanner (retired)
    Fate (retired)
    Khaospawn (retired)

I would love unhinged mountains o.o

I've thought about ordering some 7th editions mountains to use in my standerd deck, but not sure if I should do that, or instead just look through all the mountain art ever and pick my favorites and just order those e.e

I guess I didn't realize that. My line of thinking was that it was the best Modern reanimation spell and that most people that want to play a reanimation strategy in Legacy just play Reanimator instead of Tin Fins. Of course, Shallow Grave is only played in TinFins and it's price is similar so what do I know.

My favorite Mountain art:
http://store.tcgplayer.com/magic/zendik ... )-full-art

So glad I got 23 of them when I had the chance. I felt foolish for buying basic lands when I have a folder full of lands already, but they're so pretty.

Posted: Tue Oct 29, 2013 5:50 am
by DarthStabber
I think my favorite set, as far as basic lands go, is kamigawa. Wow that sounds weird, hearing favorite and kamigawa in the same sentence.

Not entirely fair now that I think about it, kamigawa limited was a ton of fun, it was just poopy in constructed (other than 2 ninjas, 2-4 dragons, kitaki, and jitte).

by RaidaTheBlade
What amuses me the most is that I just finished looking through the entirety of the mountain art, and I actually ended up at an impasse between what windstrider and DarthStabber said e.e

I hit on the kamigawa lands and on that particular fullart. I could either get 20-odd copies of that one zendikar land, or get 12 copies of each kamigawa mountain(enough for roughly 2 decks, aka my standard plus some extras just in case.)

Right now I'm leaning towards the kamigawa lands cause panorama and asiany :P

I have 15 full art mountains (a mix), so I am 5-7 short of pimping out a deck with them (not edh though, if you go mono red you need mostly mountains since bloodmoon and magus of the moon are ridic in that format, I occasionally see lists with zero basics, like karn or sliver queen). My modern deck will probably get them, nothing better than dropping a goblin guide off a full art mountain, which makes me wish I had played more zendikar.

I do have my edh deck's mountains to all have different art, which was a concession to the format's flavor.

My personal favorite. They fit with the overall aesthetic of a red deck, rather than standing out the way some of the others do. There are also several John Avon arts that are absolutely staggering, as well as the APAC Mountains, which are excellent.

Has it been printed with new frames and black borders, except as a foil in 8th and 9th edition?

I think I saw it in a modern frame a few times in that mountain image database... Honestly, the exact printing of that land is one I'd potentially pick if I was limited to only 1 land style/art.

I have a soft spot for the old borders, as well as lands that have the tap ability written on them (with the second style of tap symbol no less!). It's also beautiful art, and is very striking.

...crap, now I've got yet another land to decide from...

Yes, that's the 8th and 9th edition ones, but they're white-bordered. Foils are black-bordered though, but I'm not too fond of foils in general. But I took another look at them and
perhaps the old frame looks better on those mountains after all, or perhaps it's just how they're supposed to look to me. Need to look through my collection and see how many I have...
