What I do when camping is to take a bag (1 lbs.) of sugar, throw three packets of bread yeast on top of it, and add 2 gallons of lukewarm water; goes from zero to alcohol (also kills the germs, which
is why it's important when camping) in 24 hours. That's the basis of mead. I'll see if I can get the real recipe off the guy when he wakes up, not surprisingly he's still passed out.
