That is truly next-level thinking right there. I mean, who could have anticipated that?I like how he mentioned Shocking a Satyr was a power play.
Because I'm sure the RDW player could have pulled that game out if he'd just had +2 life.
Our Firedrinker gets no respect. I'm perfectly fine with that as it leads people to underestimate it.
I do like how he respected the deck, conceding that he got'Red pyromancer may be a thing'
Damn right
extremely lucky in that match.

People look at me funny when I say that firedrinker satyr is arguably better than rakdos cackler, then they block him with a non-monstrous fleecemane, and I pump and laugh. They think the ability is an effective "blank ability" and then it causes all the best trade ups in the world.

thanks to nbw for the sig.
You do need to try to gay it up a little more.
You're like the least gay member of this clan.
And that's counting the fact that you voluntarily have sex with men.

Yeah, you technically 'traded up' creature wise, but look t what you actually did.
You traded a 1 mana creature, an additional 2 mana, AND 4 life, for a 2 mana creature
It's not the worst trade ever, but it can put you behind both tempo and board-state wise.
I'd take a mortar or a lightning strike over the pump most times.

I had already got ash zealot going, so the board presence was less of an issue, I just dropped a mountain and a cackler and moved right along (i'm guessing he though I was holding a magma jet or shock to "protect" zealot, so he blocked the firedrinker thinking it was pure value for him, apparently not realizing I would happily take one more damage to make it a trade.

Ahh, yeah, in that situation it was a great trade. Leaves you with ash and a cackler. Me likey.
I was afraid you meant him going first, your satyr on your turn 1, his lion on his turn 2, and that trade on your turn 2. In that case, board is back to square one, and he's got the next turn. Does still stop the fleecemane/courage bullshite though, so.

Looks more like a card for a card, and then 1 extra mana and 1 life ('cause if the creature cracked back you'd still lose 3 life) to keep a Watchwolf from turning into a Thrun. Seems pretty good to me.Yeah, you technically 'traded up' creature wise, but look t what you actually did.

Congrats Yarpus!
Also, puppy!
Also, puppy!

redthirst is redthirst, fifth Horseman of the Apocalypse. He was the leader of the Fires of Salvation, the only clan I'm aware of to get modded off the forums so hard they made their own forums.
Degenerate? Sure. Loudmouth? You bet. Law abiding? No ****ing way.
Great guy to have around? Hell yes.
I love the D...

Such a cute puppy. Just make sure you train him well, all untrained dogs are a pain, but bordercollies are very smart for dogs and failing to engage their brains and keep them active will result in massive destruction of your family's personal property. It's that way with most herding breeds, but bordercollies are also significantly more energetic on average, which ups the pace of destruction, where as say german shepherds are lazier and will only destroy a little bit then fall asleep.

Note I said arguably. I do love how my cacklers and shred-freaks are immune to doomblade. MBD and Esper players really don't like spending a heroes downfall on them, especially when they're holding the doomblade.@ Satyr Vs Cackler : Given how Cackler is so boss against black removals, I think both of them are at equal ground.

Mine was the RB one from either invasion or planeshift, don't remember which, but I played a lot of MUC back then. This weird split is probably why I love izzet. This sure stirs the Gruul in me (They are my favorite color combo. Deepwood Menace was my first precon).
In unrelated news I finally got a set of goblin guides. Opened some good stuff out of my prize packs yesterday (2 scrylands, 1 master of waves, 1 archangel of thune) and with some other trade stuff I finally got the little buggers. So now if hell freezes over and I win the PTQ i'm half way toward a decent modern deck to lose with in valencia (still need lavamancers and fetches and fetchs are the hard part, and the stupid part (even though monored, lavamancer and searing blaze pretty
much need 'em)).

I just made out like hamfactorial today.
A local guy with a massive collection is selling his stuff through my LGS owner. I stopped by a few days ago to get things I knew I needed like Lotus Petals, Simian Spirit Guides, Kird Apes, Preordains, Lightning Helix, etc, but stopped by again today since I got off work a little early. I decided to thumb through the rest of the stuff to see if anything caught my eye and I happened upon a playset of Goryo's Vengenace in the box labeled $0.50. I'm a sucker for reanimation spells, so I went ahead and nabbed them not thinking anything of it. Then I got home and something told me to check the price on them. HOLY SHIT. I got a $40+ playset of Goryo's Vengeance for $2!!!

That's been my experience, kinda like what people thought vexing devil was.I really think Satyr is bait for the opponent to make bad decisions.
I maintain however that browbeat was better than anyone ever gave it credit for, you just had to accept that you were never going to get what you wanted. I had some good luck with it in timespiral block constructed, and little in standard. Never actually played with it in odyssey, too busy with squirrels, because squirrels (which I feel is justification enough on it's own).
